Oh great God of Highest Heaven,
Both high and lifted up,
And near
as our refuge and our hope.
We can gladly say to you,
That you are our sovereign King,
And you have displayed your glory and your goodness to us.
We praise you for the fact that you reveal yourself
In and through your assembly of worshipers.
As we are built up by one another,
We see your loving hand working for us.
And we see from one another's lives that
Money, sex, power and approval
Are ridiculous gods
Because they are simply siren songs,
Giving us happiness for a moment,
And Pain for eternity.
You, on the other hand,
Are utterly trustworthy,
Yes, there is affliction that is light and momentary,
But we know that you are at work,
Producing glory that is weighty throughout eternity.
Through that very affliction.
Yes Lord, you are faithful.
And we see all of your faithfulness
Manifested tangibly, historically,
On a wooden cross,
As Jesus the King defeated idolatry
And sin once and for all.
He is the fulness of your grace and truth.
And his victory has granted us your Spirit.
God is now in us!
Lord, if you are with us
and if you are for us,
How can we be shaken?
How can we not rejoice?
Why do we need to be anxious?
Why do we need to fear?
Because
We are united to Jesus.
He was not abandoned to Sheol,
And he is your Holiness made visible.
And in him, we are your holy ones.
And in him, you make known to to us
the power of resurrection life.
Because he is Emmanuel,
God with us,
We have joy overflowing.
And because he sits at your right hand in power,
We are truly in the heavenly places,
And have real pleasure in him,
Forever and never fleeting.
And if our pleasure is in you,
What can sin offer?
Lord, what a plan of protection!
And so we your people
Bless your name,
For awakening our dead hearts,
And granting us your greatest treasure,
All so that we could have our highest pleasure
In the name of Jesus the Messiah,
Our rock and our redeemer.
And all of God's holy people say:
Amen.
