16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Title: Rules You Can’t Rewrite
We live in a time where all things are questioned.
It is considered a virtue to not accept any truth, any principle or any norm.
While on the surface and in the beginning, that may seem ok, there is a point where a society depends into total anarchy…
Anarchy: the absence of government or authority; a state of lawlessness or political disorder to to lack of governmental control.
There has to be truths that we operate and live by.
Right now the US constitution is holding this at bay but I fear for us as a nation the more we are allowed to question sacred things!
Spiritual anarchy: the absence final authority; the state of spiritual lawlessness, the lack of biblical principle.
Over the next few weeks, we are going to talk about this.
I am going to challenge some commonly held ideas.
I am going to question the questioners.
My intention is to reestablish some old truths and help you to see the validity of them!
We have become so smug in our knowledge… So many things we have figured out and other things we THINK we have figured out.
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; That put darkness for light, and light for darkness; That put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
Let me remind you of God’s challenge to Job:
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding.
Today I am going to set the stage, present the authority as to why everything I am going to teach about in the coming weeks is unquestionable truth!
Why God got and why God gets to make the rules
and why THERE ARE RULES YOU CAN’T REWRITE!
1. God is the Creator of All Things
1. God is the Creator of All Things
Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 is not just the beginning of the Bible, it’s the foundation of reality.
At the first of this ALL, God set everything in order!
God who is preexistent = before time, matter and space!
The creator has the right to define its creation.
Just as a potter shapes clay, God shapes and defines His creation (Jeremiah 18:6).
My responsibility to God is to fulfil his plan for me!
He created me with intelegence and intentionality
I am fearful and wonderful made!
2. God Owns Everything
2. God Owns Everything
Psalm 24:1 – “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”
God is not just the creator, he is the owner!
Ownership is not just about possession but it’s about rights, responsibility and rule!
Because God owns it, he has the right to govern it!
Ownership implies authority.
14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
He don’t just own the heavens and earth…
BUT I belong to Jesus!
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
3. God is Perfectly Just and Holy
3. God is Perfectly Just and Holy
Deuteronomy 32:4 – “He is the Rock, His work is perfect... just and right is He.”
God’s laws are not based on changing culture or human consensus!
Rather they are rooted in His perfect, holy and unchanging nature!
Psalms 89:14 says that Justice and judgement are the foundation of His throne!
Justice is who God is!
This is a defining characteristic of our creator!
God’s laws are not arbitrary; they flow from His perfect nature.
His justice is not flawed like man’s—His rules are always right.
His justice demands that sin be dealt with…
His love drove him to Calvary so that he could pay the price for our sin!
4. God is All-Knowing and Wise
4. God is All-Knowing and Wise
Romans 11:33 – “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!”
God is not just smart, he don’t just have knowledge…
He is all-knowing! He IS wisdom!
His laws, His plans, His timing are based on complete understanding!
He sees what we cannot.
5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
5. God is Sovereign
5. God is Sovereign
Daniel 4:35 – “He doeth according to his will... none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?”
God does not answer to anyone!
His rule is absolute, His authority final, His purpose unstoppable.
He reigns - always, everywhere, over everyone!
God has ultimate authority in heaven and on earth.
No one can overrule Him or hold Him accountable—He is the highest standard.
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
What peace we can have knowing that God is in charge!
No wonder Paul would say that God is our “…all in all!” in Col3.11.
God makes the rules because He alone is:
The Creator (origin),
The Owner (authority),
The Judge (standard),
The Wise One (reason),
and The King (sovereignty).
Rejecting His rule doesn’t change His authority—it only affects our relationship to Him.
