Apostels Creed

‌I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;*

He descended to the dead

on the third day he rose again

he ascended into heaven,

is seated at the right hand the Father

and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

‌I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Let us pray

Lord its me again please be with us and guide us in how we can Worry less and put all things in your hands and allow you to guide us.

Amen

Don’t Worry Be Peaceful

You know back in the 80’s there was a song that was called “Don’t Worry Be Happy”. it was to a cajun beat that promoted being happy and not worrying and be happy all the time. I enjoyed it because of the beat and the Idea of just being happy. Would we all not enjoy being happy all the time. Well our scripture today gives us that chance. It is a perfect description or plan if you will of having a peaceful life and comfort knowing everything will be OK. You see our scripture today starts out with Paul writing from prison telling us to rejoice in the Lord always. It seems strange a man writing from prison would be telling a church to rejoice. But Paul’s attitude teaches us an important lesson: Our inner attitude does not have to reflect our outer circumstances. You see Paul was was full of Joy because he knew no matter what happened to him Jesus would always be with him. Several times in this letter Paul urges the Philippians to be joyful, because they needed to be reminded of this because it is easy to get discouraged and take circumstances to seriously. If you are not being joyful your not looking at life in the right perspective. You might say life is rough and it’s hard to be joyful. But ultimately Joy comes from Christ dwelling within us. Do you realize when we fully surrender to Jesus Christ That is when we experience true Joy. It God’s way of filling those voids we have in our soul. those places where self pity and doubt and question linger. The things that rob us of our true joy in life and in Christ. Our ultimate Joy will come when Christ returns and we will experience God’s final purpose for us. So when we allow Jesus into our hearts we are filled with a joy only followers of Jesus can experience. Please know we will still face issues in our life but we have a joy of knowing Jesus is in control and we will not have anything to worry about because he will guide us through anything we face. We are to be gentile, reasonable, fair minded, and charitable to those outside the church, and not just to fellow believers. We sometimes forget we are to forgive those who hurt us and we are not to be over vocal about our personal rights. Jesus gives us a calmness in our hearts that will carry us through any situation. for example last week on our way home from vacation the side of our newly purchased camper blew off. now about 10 years ago I would have been crazy mad. I was disappointed but I had a calmness knowing Jesus would help me through this. We will find a way to get it fixed and usable again. Can you imagine never being anxious about anything? It seems like an impossibility. we all have worries on the job, in our homes, at school. But Paul’s advice is to turn our worries into prayers. Do you want to worry less? Then Pray more. When you start to worry stop and pray God will provide. We always sing songs in church and quote scriptures and recite different prayers during our services but are we just filling up our slotted time to fulfill our obligation that we been taught our whole life to do? Let’s really take what Paul’s writing in this letter to heart, if we really want to make a change today to worry less and have a peaceful life then turn to God and allow him to be in control, turn to him for the answers. Allow him to be your guiding source. When we need information on a car where do we turn, to a mechanic when our furnace breaks down where do we turn, to a plumber. In every aspect of our life when we have trouble we turn to the people who have the knowledge to handle our situation. Then when it comes to our Joy in life should we not turn to the creator of life who has all the answers, Jesus Christ. So we need to follow Paul’s letter and when we have worry we need to pray more. Believe it or not prayer will fix everything. God is the way the truth and the light. So when we pray we can know “Don’t have to Worry, and WE can Be Peaceful”.

AMEN
