Recap:
We have on our beach clothes tonight.
Read: Colossians 3:12 “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
Does God Really care what I wear?
Does God Really care what I wear?
Genesis 3:7 “At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.”
2 types of people
1: Naked - Not covered by anything, fully exposed and most vulnerable.
Naked people are those who are away from God. This doesn’t mean literally naked, but spiritually you are void of covering. You still feel burdened with shame and guilt. You’re actively running or hiding from God.
Going back to Luke and the prodigal son - he wasn’t physically naked in the pig pin, but he was away from his father. When he came back his father immediately clothed him in his robe.
2: Fig Leafers those who put on leaves to cover themselves.
Fig leaves may cover you in front of other people but fig leaves cant hide you from God.
Jesus cursed the fig tree that didn’t produce fruit when he was hungry
How many of us are failing to produce fruit in this season because were too busy wearing our church clothes and we are still hiding away from Gods plan for our lives.

5 different commentaries referenced this act as the first institution of animal sacrifice. Which makes sense because in the OT animal sacrifice was how you were made right with God.
Dr David Browns commentary reads:
God made coats of skins—taught them to make these for themselves. This implies the institution of animal sacrifice, which was undoubtedly of divine appointment, and instruction in the only acceptable mode of worship for sinful creatures, through faith in a Redeemer (
So in simple terms: an animal was slain for them to be covered
because of sin we need a covering - that is why God sin the sinless spotless lamb of God. Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”
His Body beaten for me - his blood shed so that i could finally be covered from the shame and condemnation of sin and death!
Pastor Tristen How do you know God wants to clothe me?? Im glad you asked.
“If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor
How much more will He clothe you?
If He watched over every sparrow
How much more does He love you?”
Matthew 6:28–30 ““And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”
