My son, be attentive to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
Let them not escape from your sight;
keep them within your heart.
For they are life to those who find them,
and healing to all their flesh.
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.
Lesson Three: Faith Sees the Answer
Central Truth- By Continually looking at the Word, faith sees the answer
in the past two lessons we learned that faith is not something we have as much as something that we do
We live by faith
We have seen that faith is not hoping that we will see the answer in the future; but faith is believing that we have the answer now-
The eyes of faith see the answer as having already happened
Proverbs 4:20-22
This scripture tells us not to lets the words - “Depart from our eyes”- “don’t lose sight of them”
Many People fail because they see themselves as failing
If they have a sickness they may see themselves as dying
Matthew 8:17- God’s word says Jesus Himself “took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”
If that Word doesn’t depart from before your eyes, you are bound to see your life without sickness and without disease
The Faith who had the faith to be healed when Paul preach- saw Himself able to walk and leap, and it came to pass
If however, you don’t see yourself as without dickness, then that Word has departed from before your eyes, and even though God wants to makes health a reality in your life, He cannot, because you are not acting on His Word
you have kinda given up and surrendered to the affliction or the symptoms
I have hear the testimony of a man who preached Psalm 103- and He had an affliction where He struggled to talk, and this affliction left Him not believing that God heals all diseases- but as He was teaching God used Him as an illustration.
Proverbs 4:22- “They bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”
The Hebrew word for health here is also the Hebrews word for medicine-
4832. מַרְפֵּא marpêʾ, mar-pay´; from 7495; prop. curative, i.e. lit. (concr. ) a medicine, or (abstr. ) a cure; fig. (concr. ) deliverance, or (abstr. ) placidity:—([in-]) cure (-able), healing (-lth), remedy, sound, wholesome, yielding.1 Strong, James. 2009. In other words “My words are medicine to all their flesh.”
The first two verses of this passage tells us the directions for taking the divine medicine
What are these directions?
Pay attention to God’s Word- study them
Don’t lose sight of them- Keep them
Keep them in your Heart- Obey them
What is God’s Medicine?
“My Words”- “Pay attention to what I say”- NASB “My son, give attention to my words;
NASB- “For they are life to those who find them
And health to all their body.”
All medicine must be taken according to the direction in order to work.
One of the directions is, “Don’t lose sight of them.”- Let not them { My Word} depart from thine eyes.”
Keep your eyes focused on what the Word says!
Too Many people pray and pray, but they never see themselves with the answer. They just keep seeing everything getting worse-
2 Kings 7:19 - the Man couldn’t believe and therefore couldn’t see them having the Word of God
People like this keep looking at the Worng thing- st the symptoms, at the conditions, at themselves- and in turn walk in unbelief and destroy the effects of their prayer.
Get your mind on the answer. See yourself as having recieved
Constantly affirm, ven in the face of contradictory evidence, that God has heard your prayer because the Word of God says so!- This is when you will see the results in your life!
Mark 11:24 -“ I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
You have to believe you’ve got it before you receive it.
The believing comes before the receiving
There are outliers as I pointed out before- put the prescription according to the Word of God is believe you have received- or beleive and then receive
There are those who say, “I’m not going to believe anything I can’t see.” But even this statement isn’t true
In the natural we believe a lot of things we can’t see.
The Whole world became alarmed when covid spend across the face of the earth- you could see it or feel it, but fear of it shut everything down
The world world became alarmed when atomic bombs were being exploded, realsing radioactive material in the atmosphere.
You can’t see it of feel it, but it is a destructive power nevertheless
Faith Contradicts Circumstances
Hebrews 13:5-6
The question is “are we boldly saying that the Lord is our Helper?” This is what we should be saying!
People Say: “Well, you all pray for me, I feel like the Lord has fore-shaken me. I feel like God is so far from me. I don’t know if I am going to make or not. I Hope I can. Pray for me that I will remain faithful to the end.”
For Pastor’s this is a very familiar prayer request, But this is not what God wants us to say nor is it what He told us to say!
To many people boldly proclaimed, “I’m whipped.”
“I’m done”
“It is too much.”
“The devil has me bound”
“nothing ever changes”
“I am defeated.”
When you present what the Word of God says they respond, “Well we will see. You Just don’t understand.”
But this is nowhere in the Bible- Do we believe the word of God fully, even in the midst of not seeing it in the moment ?
Lam 3
God Says, “I will never leave you nor foreshake you”
So we can Boldly say “The Lord is my Helper!”
We need to quite saying the wrong thing and start confessing the right thing
Say “The Lord is my Helper”
Say “The Lord is my Healer”
Say, “The Lord took my infirmities and bore my sickness.”
Keep talking about the right thing, and keep believing the right thing
Wrong thinking, Wrong believing, and wrong talking will defeat you
The devil can’t defeat you, because Jesus already has defeated the devil for you.
Satan doesn’t defeat you; you defeat yourself.
Or if he does defeat you, you gave him the permission to do so. It is the consent of ignorance.
God has given us His Holy Word to direct us so that our believing will be right
If our thinking is right then our believing is right, and our talking will be right.
“The Lord is my Helper.”
“The Lord is my Strength”
Faith “Says’ the Answer”
Real Faith in the Word of God, says That if God says it is so, it is so.
If He Says “by his stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24) we are healed.
If He Says, “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:19) Then He Does it!
If the Word Says, “The Lord is the Strength of My life” (Psalm 21:1) He Is
In other Words Real Faith in God simply says about one’s self what the Word says.
We have the what the Word says we have
We are what the Word says we are
If God is strong, we are.
If God says we are healed we are.
If God says He cares for me, He does.
Hebrews 4:14 “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.”
It Is because Jesus is our Great High Priest, and sits at the right hand of God in Heaven, making intercession for us, that we can have the answers to our petitions now.
The EVS says “Since then we have d a great high priest e who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, f let us hold fast our confession.1
It is our confession- 1. homologeo (ὁμολογέω, 3670), lit., “to speak the same thing” (homos, “same,” lego, “to speak”), “to assent, accord, agree with,”11 Vine, W. E., Merrill F. Unger, and William White Jr. 1996. In Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, 2:120. Nashville, TN: T. Nelson.
“Let us Hold fast to saying the same things.”
Jesus is in Heaven, representing us at the throne of God, and He is saying “I took their place, I died for them as their substitute.”
Jesus didn’t die for His own sake.
He didn’t need to redeem Himself
He wasn’t lost
HE DIED FOR US- He became our substitute
He took our sins
He bore our sickness
He carried our diseases
He died for us, arose from the dead for us, and ascended on high for us.
Now He is up there saying, “I did that for them, and we are to hold fast to saying the same things down here
Mark 11:22-24 “Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
It isn’t a matter of faith going out of your heart toward God without your saying anything.
That won’t Work
Nowhere in the Bible do see or read that we should do that
Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17)-
What we speak comes from our hearts- Matthew 12:34; Luke 6:45
Faith kept only in your heart never will bring healing to your body, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, or an answer to prayer
But Faith released through your lips will bring results
Memory Verse
Proverbs 4:20-22 “ My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
Lesson in action:
James 1:22- “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only
