Faithfulness

Introduction:
I. Paul’s Exclamation
Declaration
Many years ago
Back in the 1800s
There was a pastor in England
Named Charles Spurgeon
Now
Spurgeon
Was one of the greatest preachers
To ever have lived
he
preached many sermons
and many thousands
were saved
through his preaching
and
in one particular sermon
he preached
on faithfulness
or the lack
of faithfulness
And perhaps
The people in his church
Were not being very faithful
But
The truth is
A lack of faithfulness
Among Christians
Has been a problem
For
2000 years
Because the apostle Paul wrote
In
The book of 1 Corinthians
And in chapter 4:2
(1 Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
Now
I want you to consider
What that means
It means that
Because
We are God’s stewards
God’s managers
He
Requires that
We be found faithful
The word faithful
Means literally
Trustworthy
See
When God saved us
He made us stewards
Of all that is His
We
Are stewards of God’s time
Stewards of God’s talents
Stewards of God’s treasure
Stewards of our life
The life God has given us
And
He requires us
To be trustworthy
With all of those things
It
Is required
It is mandatory
But
When it comes to all of us
How faithful are we?
Well
That all depends
On our faith
And how full we are
Of it
So
Let’s read our text
For this morning
It
Isn’t 2 Timothy 4
Beginning in verse 1
The Bible says
In 2 Timothy4: 1 – 10
2 Timothy 4:1–10 KJV 1900
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
Let’s pray
And ask the Lord
To speak to our hearts
Discussion
Now
Here in this text
We had the display
Of faithfulness
And the lack thereof
Demonstrated for us
We
Had to display
Of Paul’s faithfulness
In fact
Listen to what he said
In verse 7 (2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
See
Paul
Was a faithful man
But
We also see in this text
The display
Of some
Who were unfaithful
Dimas
For example
Loved this present world
So
Let’s talk about
What it means to be faithful
And as we do
I
Want you to keep in mind
What Paul said
In 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
But
Notice Paul’s exclamation
That he made
Here in 2 Timothy 4
he Said
In verses 1 – 2
(2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
In those verses
Paul Was saying Timothy
Be faithful
I charge you
To be faithful
Deliberation
And
He told Timothy
To be faithful to preaching
I charge you
To continue preaching
In
Other words
Paul was send Timothy
Be faithful
To herald the word
Preach the word
He said
By the way
The word preach
Is a word
That means simply
To herald the truth
And
In Bible days
A Harold was one
Who cared epistle messages
From the king
And then proclaimed them
To the populace
And obviously
In the context
Of what Paul was saying to Timothy
He was addressing the pastor
Timothy
Was a pastor
Who preached the Word of God
And that’s what pastors do
They herald the truth
They
They deliver the message
From the King of kings
Two people
But
Let me make an observation
If I may
God calls upon all of us
To preach
Whether we are a pastor or not
In fact
Jesus said
To the members of the Jerusalem church
In Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
And
That were preach
Is the very same word
That Paul used
In 2 Timothy 4
So
Just as Paul told Timothy
To stay faithful to your preaching
Preach the Word
Paul said
Well likewise
We as God’s people
Need to continue
Preaching the word as well
To those who are lost
We
Especially as the Lord’s church
Need to stay faithful
In preaching the Word
Presenting the Truth
To a lost world
But
Not only did Paul tell Timothy
Tuesday preaching
Continue preaching
But
He also told Timothy
Stay put
Saying your place
Because again
In verse 2
He said Timothy
(2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
That phrase
Means literally
To stand upon
To stay where you are
That
Whether things are easy
Stay where you are
And even when things
Are not easy
Even when they are hard
Just
Stan your place
Stay with it
Stay put
And by the way
Sometimes
Things are hard
In the Christian life
Aren’t they
But
Paul said
Hey Timothy
You be instant
Stan your place
In season
Or out of season
And
God wants all of us
As believers
And as members of His church
to
Do likewise
God wants us
To just stay faithful
But again
Paul said Timothy
Stay preaching (Continue)
Stay put (Stan your place)
Deliberation
Then
Number 3
Stay peaceful
Timothy, Paul said
Remain calm
In fact
In verse 5
Paul sent Timothy (2 Timothy 4:5 “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”
That phrase
Watch thou in all things
Carries the idea
Of soberness of mind
It’s
Like saying
Be calm
In the Lord
Even amid affliction
Just a calm
But
The only way to do that
Is to just
Trust the Lord
In fact
Solomon said
In Proverbs 3:5 – 6
Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV 1900
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
So
Friends
Just a preaching
Preach the Word
And just stay put
That is
Stay in your place
And just a peaceful
That is, remain calm
Then
Number 4
Stay persevering
Paul said in verse 5
(2 Timothy 4:5 “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”
The
Word afflictions
That Paul used here
Describes seasons of sufferings
It describes trouble
That takes place
It
Is when their physical hardships
Or financial hardships
Or familial hardships
Or even hardships with votes
That is, trouble with people
But
Paul said
In during those times
See
The tendency is
Tonight endured
The temptation is
In a hard time
To run away
Whether
It is a hardship in our home
With our health
Or even in God’s house
And
By the way
Those kinds of hardships
Take place all the time
And
When they do
We are tempted
To just run away
But
Paul said Timothy
There might be afflictions in your life
But just endure them
Be faithful to God
In spite of them
Just
State preaching
Stay put (In your place)
Stay peaceful (Calm)
Stay persevering
Then
Number 5
Stay proving
Paul said Timothy
“Make full proof of thy ministry”
In verse 5
Now
Do you know what that means
It means to carry out fully
Complete the task
Paul was saying
Finish the job
Just be faithful
Discussion
And
The reason
That Paul gave this charge
Is clear
In fact
Notice
Verse 2-3
Paul said (2 Timothy 4:2–3 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”
Paul was saying
We need to stay preaching
And stay put
And stay peaceful
And stay persevering
And stay proving
Because
Of a difficult problem
That the time is coming
He said
Where they will not endure
Sound doctrine
In other words
The time is coming
Where they won’t listen the truth
And being that I have pastored
For 34 years
I have seen that
It seems
That the time has come
Where people
Will not endure sound doctrine
And
When I say people
I’m not talking about
Lost people
We don’t expect lost people
To endure sound doctrine
But
When I say people
I’m talking about
Some people in the church
I’m afraid
That in some cases
There’s some people
In the church
Who just one endure sound doctrine
By the way
Do you know that means
It means simply
Some people just want
Tolerate
Sound doctrine
They
Would rather
Not have to hear it
And they would prefer
As
It says here in our text
To have teachers
Having itching ears
It says in verse 3
Which means
They prefer to have teachers
Whose only desire
Is to make you feel good
Much like scratching the ear
Feels good
Oh
But listen to me please
We hold in our hands
The whole Counsel
Of God
We hold the Scriptures
And
The Scriptures that times
Gratify us
They make us feel good
But then at times
They gouge us
And
By that I mean
Scripture sometimes
Brings great conviction
To our hearts
But
We need to be faithful
Sadly
A lot of believers these day
Aren’t so faithful
Their concern only
With having their ears scratched
They just want you
to make them feel good
But
Listen please
We need to stay faithful
Because of this difficult problem
Dilemma
But then
Paul said Timothy
You need to be faithful
Because of my departure
In fact
Notice verse 6
Paul said Timothy
(2 Timothy 4:6 “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.”
He
Was telling Timothy
I’m leaving soon
I’m ready to be offered
Which means simply that
His life
Was about to be taken away
I’ll be departing soon
He said
And
Because I’m departing soon
And will no longer be here
You need to stay preaching
And stay put
You need to STAY persevering
Because see
Paul
Had been doing all those things
For decades
We know that
From reading his epistles
And the book of Acts
But
The time had come
For him
To pass off the scene
To depart this life
So
The time had also come
For Timothy
To do as Paul had done
And be thankful
And
The same thing is true
For us today
In God’s church
See
We must all be faithful
Even if the older generation
Passes away
In order generation
That has been faithful
By the way
But
As they pass all the scene
Everything will then depend
On the Newer generation
For example
All of the preaching
Will have to be done
By the younger men
All of the ministry
Will have to be done
By the younger generation
But
That brings me
To a very important point
Those of us
Who are a part of the older generation
And
That is me
I am 62 years of age
So what happens
If I cease to be faithful
To God’s church
And God’s work?
What happens
If I cease
To be faithful to attend the church
If I cease
To be faithful
To continue the work of God
Well
The younger generation
Is following me
And all of you older men
The younger generation
Is following you now
That
If You are a little unfaithful
To the church now
They will probably be unfaithful
A lot
In the future
So
Let me urge you
Especially as older men
An older women
Be faithful
Because
We as church leaders today
Are preparing
The next generation of leaders
For tomorrow
And because we are
We need to set the example
And listen
Our world
Is depending on us
The future of this church
And at your church
And of my church
Is depending on us
But again
Paul said
I am departing
I am about
To depart this life
So Timothy
I need you
To be faithful
Demonstration
But
Please don’t miss
A very important point here
Not only was it important
To stay faithful
Because
Of problems
That were difficult
Where people wouldn’t endure sound doctrine
And
Not only was important
To be faithful
Because of the departure
Of the apostle Paul
But
Paul shared a purpose
That was divine
With Timothy
he Said
In verse 1
(2 Timothy 4:1 “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”
In
Other words
I charge you to be faithful
Because we are all
Going to stand before God the Father
And the Lord Jesus Christ
And
That could take place
At any moment
so
What motivation that is
To be faithful
It is required in stewards
That a man be found able
It says in 1 Corinthians 4:2
Which suggests
That one day
We will stand before God
And give an account
Of our stewardship
Which
Reminds me
Of a song that our church seems
From time to time
Written
The man
Named Edwin Young
Edwin Young wrote
I
wonder, have I giv’n my best to Jesus, Who died upon the cruel tree? To think of His great sacrifice at Calv’ry, I know my Lord expects the best from me.
How many are the lost that I have lifted? How many are the chained I’ve helped to free? I wonder, have I done my best for Jesus, When He has done so much for me?
But see
One day
The Lord will judge our works
But what will He find
What
Greater purpose is there
To be faithful
Then knowing
I’ll one day stand before my Savior
And
Paul addressed that
In writing to the Church of Corinth
He said
In 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
So
When it comes to the charge
That Paul gave Timothy
In 2 Timothy 4
Where he said
In verse 1 (2 Timothy 4:1 “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”
But
When it comes to that charge
Let me make
A few recommendations
If I may
To all of us
And
First of all
Let me charge you
To be faithful
To read your Bible
By the way
As preachers
We are always studying the Bible
But our study of the Bible
In preparation for sermon
ought
Never to replace
Just spending time
In the Word of God
And letting God
Teach our hearts
So
Listen please
You be faithful
To read your Bible
Paul said to lie,
Give attendance to reading
To exhortation
And to doctrine
In 1 Timothy 4:13
And
Not only that
But you be faithful
To spend time in prayer
Every single day
In fact
Paul said
Pray without ceasing
In 1 This loan is 5:17
And
Be faithful
To your spouse
Because God has made you
one flesh
And
Be faithful
To the work
That God has called you to do
Be faithful
To serve the Lord
Be faithful
To give your tithe
Be faithful
To witness
Be faithful
To love the brethren
Paul said
Be faithful
Be instant, in season and out of season
What an important exclamation that is
II. Paul’s example
Declaration
But then
Paul used himself
As an example
Of faithfulness
He said
In verse 7
(2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
Now
Think about
What Paul was saying
He wasn’t boasting
But
He was saying simply
You continue to be faithful
Just as I
Have been faithful
See
Paul was an example
Of readiness
He was ready he said
To be offered
We are told
in verse 6
He was saying
I’m ready to die
Because I have been faithful
While I was living
But
Christian
Have you been faithful
To live for God
Have you done your best
For the Lord Jesus Christ
Well
The apostle Paul had
In one example he was
For young Timothy
That he was ready to die
But
Not only was Paul
Ready to die
But he was likewise ready
To do his duty
Again
He said
(2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
The
Phrase
Good fight
Refers to the worthiness
Of the Christian fight
With regards to our life
See
This life that we live
Which is a lot
Like a fight
Is worth living
It
Is worth Getting up
Early enough
To spend time with the Lord
In prayer
It
Is worth
Keeping short accounts with sin
Keeping then confessed
And repenting from them
It
His work being a diligent student
Of God’s Word
And being sacrificial
In my giving
It is worthy of serving
Because see
It is a good fight
Paul said
I
Have fought a good fight
One that was worth fighting
Paul said
But the question is
Have we
He said
I finished the course
That God gave me
And
He didn’t take shortcuts
He didn’t quit
Before the race was over
He finished it
But what about us
Discussion
But
Not only did Paul
Fight the good fight
And not only
Did Paul finish the course
But
Listen to what he said
I have kept the faith
Which means simply
He stayed faithful
To his faith
The things
That were dictated to him
From the Scriptures
In order to guide his life
Paul stayed faithful
to those things
But again
Not only was Paul
Ready to die
Because he had been Faithful
And
Not only was Paul
Ready to do his duty
But
He was a ready example
For all of us today
He
Lives his life
As an example of the believer
Just like
He had encouraged Timothy
To do
In 1 Timothy 4:12
See
Paul was ready
In that day
But could we say
That we are ready
And faithful to God
Well
Paul was an example
Of readiness
For young Timothy
But what kind of example
Are we
Deliberation
Number 2
Paul was an example
Of a righteous man
And we know that
Because
He faithfully serve God
In the happy times
And yes
Even in the hard times
But
How do we know this?
We know this because
Paul wrote this letter
2 Timothy 4
He
Wrote this letter
From a Roman prison cell
So I am sure
That
As he wrote this book
As he sat
In that dungeon
He remembered happier times
Times
Where the ministry
Was going great
And the blessings of God
Were innumerable
And
Isn’t it so easy
To be faithful to God
During the happy times
It’s
Easy to be faithful
When everything is going right
Is it not?
Oh
But what about
When things are hard
When things are difficult
Well
As for Paul
He was an example of faithfulness
Even when times
Were not so happy
When they were difficult
In fact
Keep your place here
In 2 Timothy 4
In turn back
To 2 Corinthians 11:23–28 “Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.”
Now
do you know what Paul
Was saying
Even in the hard times
I was faithful
And
The fact is
All during that time
He faithfully serve God
In fact
He said
All during those perils
In my life
I still had to care
Of all the churches
So
Even my life was hard
Paul just continued
To be faithful
To the Lord his God
And to the work of God
He
Just Faithfully
Serving God
While serving people
In fact
Paul served Timothy
He mentored him
And at the same time too
He mentored Titus
he
Served the churches
That God allowed him
To have a part in
But
Here’s my point
Paul was an example
Of a righteous man
Two young Timothy
But
Are we
Are we setting an example
To those who are young
In our midst
Be they
In our homes
In our churches
In our Bible institutes
Delegation
But
Not only was Paul
An example of readiness
In his day
He said
I’m ready to be offered
And
Not only was he an example
Of the righteous
In his day
But
Paul is an example
Of the importance
Of routine
And by that I mean
The things he made a habit in his day
And
Let me give you
An example
Of Paul’s routine
The
Bible tells us
That Paul was at the synagogue
Every Sabbath
In fact
The Bible says
About Paul
In Acts 18:4 “And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.”
Which
Tells me that
Every Sabbath day
Every Saturday
He was at the synagogue
But
Could that be said
About us
With regards to the church
That
Every single Sunday
We are at church
In our place
And on time
But
Not only
was he
at the synagogue
Every Saturday
But
Paul was always praying
For someone
In fact
He told the church at Philippi
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you”
In Philippians 1:3
But
Let me ask you
Are you faithful to pray
For your family
And even your church family
We should be
Especially as leaders
In fact
I’m reminded
Of
Something Samuel the prophet
Said
Many years ago
He said
in
1 Samuel 12:23 “Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:”
But again
Paul
Was a very faithful man
He was always praying
And always present
At the synagogue
He
Was likewise
Always preaching (Acts 18:4 “And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.”
That word
Reason
Carries the idea
A preaching
So
What an example he was
To young Timothy
To one who was a youth
But
What about our example
In 2025
Oh listen
Paul told Timothy
To be an example of the believer
But what kind of example
Are we
To the believer
Are we faithful?
III. Paul’s examination
Declaration
But
Now that we talked about
Paul’s exclamation
He exhorted Timothy
To preach the word
And we are exhorted as well
To preach the word
Then
We talked about
Paul’s example
What a great example of the believer
He was
But
Let’s also talk about
Paul’s examination
See
Here in our text
In 2 Timothy 4
Paul examines some
Who had also been faithful
But that some
Had not been faithful
For example
Demas
Had not been faithful
In fact
Listen to verse 9
Paul said
Timothy...
(2 Timothy 4:9–10 “Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.”
Now
Listen please
There was a time when Demas
Have been faithful
To the Lord
And to the ministry
In fact
Paul mentioned him
In two of his epistles
In the context
A being faithful
For example
In Colossians 4
And in verse 14
Paul said (Colossians 4:14 “Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.”
Likewise
In the book of Philemon
Chapter 1:24
Paul said (Philemon 24 “Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.”
So
Think about that
Paul called this man
A fellow laborer
So apparently
There had been a time
In Demas’ life
Where he was living a life
Of faithfulness
In serving the Lord
He
Was serving in the ministry
As he was needed
He was in his place
And undoubtedly
He was praying like he should
And doing right
But
Unfortunately
The time came
Where there was a lapse
In his faithfulness
That is
He ceased
In laboring
Alongside his ministry partner
He
Didn’t turn up
For his duty
But rather
He became undependable
When he came to the ministry
As
A matter of fact
The were forbidden
There in verse 9
Means to dessert
Demas
Deserted Paul
And the work of God
But here’s the question
How does a man
Go from being dedicated
To being a deserter
How does he cease being faithful
To be unfaithful
Well
In Demas’ case
His love for the things of the world
Created
An unfaithful heart in him
And
Maybe he decided
I would rather have Material things
Than ministry duties
And sadly
Christian to become unfaithful
In 2025
Always have a reason
Sometimes
Time Is there reason
To cease being faithful
Or treasure
Or what ever else
But
The warning is clear
For all of us
That loving this present world
Will destroy your faithfulness
Discussion
And
The truth is
Some people even in our day
Have allowed their desire for treasure
To cause them
To cease to be faithful
Or cannot be is faithful
As they used to be
But
That’s what Demas did
That whereas
At one time
Paul called Demas
His fellow laborer
Yet
Here in the inspired Word
Of our God
He had to say
Demas hath forsaken me
He
Was no longer faithful
To the ministry
That God had called him to
By the way
And listen carefully
If you are a believer
Then God has given you a spiritual Gift
Or gifts
And therefore
You have a duty
To minister
To people
In fact
The apostle Peter wrote
In 1 Peter 4:10 “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
Oh
But as Paul
Examined Demas
He was found to be unfaithful
He
Started well
In being faithful
But in the end
He was unfaithful
Deliberation
There
Is another man
That Paul examined
Named John Mark
Here in our text
Paul said
In verse 11
(2 Timothy 4:11 “Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.”
Now
John Mark
Like most of us
Has started his Christian life
Doing well
He got involved in ministry
And was faithful
But
In time
He to
Much like Demas
Had deserted Paul
And the work of God
In fact
Read with me
Acts 13:13 “Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.”
Likewise
Notice Acts 15:38 “But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.”
See
For whatever the reason
John Mark
Who had been a helper
In Paul’s missionary team
Departed
Which means
He left the work
He quit
And we don’t know why
But John Mark asserted Paul
And the work of the ministry
He
Ceased serving
He left his fellow laborers
Shorthanded
In the work
With not enough hands
To do all the work
And unfortunately
Some believers today
Have done the very same thing
They left their brethren
Without any help
To do all the work of God
But apparently
According to our text
In 2 Timothy 4
John Mark
Had once again become faithful
Because again
Paul said in verse 11
(2 Timothy 4:11 “Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.”
John Mark
Apparently
Reengaged
In the work of God
He became profitable
In ministry
Once again
And
Perhaps you to
Have become unfaithful
In your life
Well
Listen please
We serve a God
Who is ready to help you
Become faithful again
If you will let Him
So that
Like John Mark
You can become profitable again
In the work of the ministry
If you’ll simply
Rededicate your all to Christ
But see
Dimas had become unfaithful
John Mark
Who lacked faithfulness
Became faithful once again
Deliberation
Oh but
Notice a very important statement
In verse 11
Paul said
“Only Luke is with me”
See
Luke started his Christian life
Being faithful
He continued
Being faithful in his life
He
Didn’t deserve Paul
Or the ministry
Not even once
And here in 2 Timothy 4
He finished well
So
Let me ask you
Who are you more like
When it comes to being faithful
To the Lor?
Are you
More like Demas
John Mark
Or Luke
IV. Paul’s exuberance
Well
The good news is
We serve a God
Who is absolutely faithful
In fact
Read verses 16 and 17
With me
If you would
The
Apostle Paul said
(2 Timothy 4:16–17 “At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.”
See
Even though men
Deserted Paul
And wouldn’t stand with Paul
Yet
The Lord did
The Lord
Still with Paul
He was faithful
To Paul
And
Listen please
The Lord
Will stand by you to
He is faithful
But
I want you to examine your life
Right now
Have you been faithful
To your God
If
You haven’t been faithful
Would you take a moment
And come to the altar
To rededicate your life to the Lord
(1 Corinthians 4:1–2 “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
Conclusion: Let’s bow for prayer
