Consequences of Disobedience

Key scripture: Deuteronomy 28:15 “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:”

What is disobedience

In Greek, the word ἀπείθεια (apeitheia) conveys disobedience, unbelief, and obstinate resistance to divine truth. It comes from ἀ- (a-, "not") and πείθω (peithō, "to persuade" or "to obey"), meaning a refusal to be convinced by God's voice1. This term appears in passages like Romans 11:30-32, Ephesians 2:2, and Hebrews 4:6, 11, describing those who reject God's will.

Romans 11:30–32 “For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.”

In Hebrew, disobedience is often expressed through words like מֶרִי (meri), meaning rebellion or stubbornness, and סָרַר (sarar), meaning to be stubborn or to rebel1. These terms reflect a spiritual condition of resisting God's authority and commands.

God is a God of Covenants

The first passage in the Bible where Yahweh made a covenant with any man . was with Adam. referred to as the Adamic Covenant. or the covenants of works. This covenant was established in the Garden of Eden. When God created Adam and Eve and gave them specifics instructions regarding their relationship with Him, and their stewardhip over creation.

Dominion over Creation . God Commanded Adam and Eve to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion over the earth. Genesis 1:26–28 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Obedience to God’s Command. They were permitted to eat from any tree. Except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:16–17 “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Consequences of Disobedience . God warned that eating from the forbidden tree would result in death. signifying the covenant’s conditional nature. Genesis 2:17 “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

This covenant was broken when Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit, leading to the fall of mankind and the introduction of sin into the world. As a result, God, included consequences such as pain in childbirth, toil in labor, and eventual death (Genesis 3:16-19)

Despite this, God also introduced the promise of redemption

in Genesis 3:15, where He foretold the coming of a Savior who would ultimately defeat sin and restore humanity.

Humanity Separation From God, was because of Rebellion.

Everything in life has consequences.

If you do good it has a consequence. for instance its says in

Proverbs 11:25 “The liberal soul shall be made fat: And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.”

Wheter good are bad has consequences. so its better to always do good, to reap the benefits of a good steward.

The fall of man .

The fall of man was as aresult of disobedience. and we all know the consequences that follow. how by one man sin eneter into the world. and sin brings death on all men. Many people will claim to that if it was them in the Garden of Eden they wouldnt have fallen for the devil’s trap. Your understanding of the terms on condition is attain by the little information you have gather from the scriptures.

Are you stronger than Adam?

Adam was in a state of innocence, he was a mighty man , he was no small errand boy. he was in the god class. Mighty man indeed, he wasnt deceive by the serpent , he rebell against the commands of God. The crooked serpent never spoke to Adam . The Bible said Adam hearkened unto the voice of his wife.

Genesis 3:17 “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;”

The word that i will explain here is hearkened.

The hebrew word used here is (shama). To listen give , obey, or give heed. so Adam act upon Eve’s instructions.

1 Timothy 2:14 “And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”

So Adam intenionally eat it despite knowing the consequence of eating the forbidden fruit. His action was an act of rebellioin not deception.

No man know what truly went on in the Garden unless God reveals it

People will speculate and say. but we dont know for sure how many days the serpent was with Eve convincing her to eat from the tree. The Bible doesnt give you time. its important to dismiss the devil ,dont busy entertaining him in conversation. for instance its says Deliah worry Samson with her persistent questions

Judges 16:16 “And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;”

Said she press him daily. until his soul was vexed unto death.

I personally believe that Eve never just gave in to the Serpent . he press her for days . until she finally gave in. So the question is where was Adam while all this was going on.

My Theory

My theory is the serpent could never have approach Adam , so he approach Eve. And present his case to her . But after we read that she gave to her husband who was there. We dont know if he was there all along, while all this was going on. Adam would have intervene and stop her from eating the fruit.

Lets go back to Genesis 3:17 “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;”

God was speaking to Adam and said , ‘’ You have hearkened Shama to your wife. so if he Adam was there why God said because you have hearkened to her. Adam would have gladly indulge beacause he would be in agreement. Because he would have heard all what the serpent said to Eve. again thats my theory how i perceived things .

We have known the Consequence of Rebellion

Since we have read and the word, and we know the Bible is God’s word to man, we need to put these things into practice. man has so far fallen that it takes the Almighty God Himself to come and die for us. many of us cant even resist 5000 dollars bribe, we hate, we steal , lies , murder, rob, envy, prideful, we curse God, and all manner of evil . Then we have the audacity to compare ourselves to Adam and Eve. We must check ourselves first. pick the beam out of our eyes before we can see the mote in our brothers eyes.

Matthew 7:5 “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

With such a large plank in your eyes how can you see a small mote in someone elses’s eye .

Body of the Sermon

It is good to obey God , and to hearkened to His instructions. because it will be well for you.

God is not Grievous

People think that my God is a grievious God and that He is spiteful and cunning and lay traps and scheme for you to fall. because you disobey Him.

Satan Role

Satan is the Accuser of the brethren , he constantly accusing you of your actions that are contrary to God’s agenda.

Revelation 12:10 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

And also Zechariah 3:1–2 “And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; Even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?”

Satan has to have a legal ground against you to be bringing your case to the courts of heaven. Here Satan was resisting Joshua the High Priest becaus of some legals grounds against him. The Lord has to rebuked Satan . he has been tried through the fire, he has paid a price.

Satan never had a second Chanced

The devil nor the fallen angels never had a second chanced to be reconciled with God, Salvation was never alocated for them. The devil and his cohoots acts as an enforcer to God’s command to those who are called by his name. So if your a child of God and living in sins. The devil will ensure that you are penalise he will comstantly take your case to the heavenly court. Because he never had a second chance he is bitter and full of hate, his wish is for all men to be condemn like him. Satan has no love in him, the guy lack compassion are remorse, you cannot reason with him.

The spiritual realm govern by laws which controlled the physical realm , as long as God has spoken. it becomes a law that must be adhered to, it becomes legally binding. God Himself cannot go back on His word. for He, Himself said my word shall remain. So when the Soverign Lord has spoken creation itself is a living organism , Jesus said if these refuse to worship me , even the stones would cry out.

Luke 19:40 “And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Speaking that none of God’s creation is dead. they are living enities. Who will respond to God’s command . in the Book of

1 Kings 13:24 “And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.”

Creation itself with all the animals will ensure that the word of the Lord is established.

The spoken word of God

Satan is also a custodian of the laws of God, thats why he uses it to oppress you. Saints of God must gain knowlege study the word of God . The Lord said be Holy for I AM HOLY.

1 Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”

For satan to be accusing you, he has to know the law, and the legalityof it. the implications .

You cant be living in sin and expect the promises of God to be fulfilled

In 1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, He hath also rejected thee from being king.”

This passage Samuel the Prophet was speaking to King Saul Israel’s first king. He highlighted that rebellion is the sin of witchcraft, and stubborness as iniquity and idolatry. God can chose anyone to speak to you, even a donkey in the case of Balaam . When the word of God came to you , obey dont be stubborn and act like your better more knowleable than the messenger

Luke 7:35 “But wisdom is justified of all her children.”

Wisdom is justified by her results. Those who embraced wisdom will show it the way they live their lives.

Proverbs 13:13 “Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.”

Ignoring the word of God which is the wisdom of God ,will be rewarrded. But if you despise it will bring hardship

The willing

The willing , those who hears the word of God and hearkened to it readily acecept it. Those who doesnt see the commandments of God as burdensome. and live each day to please God. who write the word of God upon the tablets of their heart.

No child of a King should feel embarass, for you know that a king is in control over the kingdom . and the son of a king is a Prince. who has authority. In

Isaiah 1:19–20 “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, Ye shall be devoured with the sword: For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”

The pasage say if you are willing and obedient , it comes with a clause , there is a stipulation affixed to it . williness and obedience . to Do the commands of the Lord then you shall eat the good of the land. But refusal and rebellion would lead to you been devoured with the sword.

The Wages of Sin

Sin has a reward attach to it , it comes with a price. your warn about the repercussion of sin. the Bible is for man, not for God its for our learning so we can see the and learned about the mistakes our ancestor made, and how God deal with them. The price they paid for their actions. What we must do to avoid the mistakes of the past. Its not for us to puff up and say we are more righteous than such and such man. Can you handle one hundred thousand and still remain commited to the things of God.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

This verse highliht the reward that sin offer. Not a good one a grave one indeed. But Christ offer eternal life. Choose Christ because is merciful in His infinite love for man. He offer a way back from eternal death to life eternal. even though we deseerved it.

God is not Mock

=Every action has an equal and oposite reaction. You cant plant corn and expect to reap oranges. Whatsover you sow that you must reap. Your busy trying to killed your neighbour doing evil and at the end expect to be protected by RATWEILER breed dogs. in gated community.

Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Those who God loves

God has His own way, to discipline who He loves. He prunes them in such a way that at the end they deny self. they are humble and represent Christ. Christ was humble even unto death.

Philippians 2:8 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Hebrews 12:6 “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”

Every man has a tendency to be proud and lofty . With that self indulgence God has to bring you to a level where your atitude and persona should be reliance and God. God will have to take you and a journey of submission and brokeness. Lord we cannot save ourselves saves us how Lord our God. Man must know that God has no equal and that He is the only Self Sufficient God. Almighty God. You must be brought low before the King of kings.

God gave them over to sinful desires:

When God accept you as His children, it comes with stipulation . there are laws and regulation that governs it. God is Holy, He is Righteous, He doesnt tolerate sin. eventhough God is Merciful . He has a limit of how far He will go. in this Pasage

Romans 1:24 “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:”

Lets make this clear God never cause them to do it. When the scripture says God gave them over. It means the conesequences of those things has a voice it has pulled. those are altars of satanic agenda. Those Altars was speaking summoning them . God was preventing it from happening meaning God was speaking to His children refrain from those practices . and they conrinue in their sin. God eventually gave them over to those practices which has a legal ground on them.

Romans 1:26–28 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”

God hand them over to reprobate mind, a state of moral corruption , rejection to God’s truth. the Greek word (adokimos) use here means unapproved or rejected after testing, implying a mind that has fail to meet God’s moral standard. satan embodied the characteristic of a reprobate mind utterly depraved beyond redemption.

Who embodied such mind

People in the Bible such as Pharoah had such mind , beyond repaird repentence was taking away from them .

Exodus 7:3–4 “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.”

king Ahab was also another one that had a reprobate mind in 1 Kings 16–22 Ahab was influence by his wife Jezebel, promoted idolatry and persecuted God’s prophet, his refusal to repent led to his traggic end.

Live according to God’s blueprint for your life

Engage in scriptures reading and prayer, will draw you closer to God. the more you pray and read His word tap up with fasting. God will drop his perfect will for your life. dont be decieve . God is just and he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

All that you requires and need is in wrap up in seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Conclusion
