So I was driving home after dropping Silvia and the kids off in San Antonio and I felt the Lord speak to me? You know there is two places it seems that God speaks to me the Most Driving alone or in the Shower I think God just Likes to have us to himself for a little bit and If we don't drown him out with the radio or phone calls we might actually hear Him
So part of this God gave me years ago when I was at my First church WE were growing building a new sanctuary and God gave me Christ centered Family Focused It Changed the way i parented and taught His word . I haven't thought about those words in year s since leaving that church but God brought it to my memory on my way Home and this time he added a few things that were so special and sweet. Disciple Making , Mission Minded
So put these all together and God has given me the mission For His church
You know the Scriptures teach
Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
So the vision Is for Hamby Baptist Church to be and be better at being

So over the next few weeks I haven't decided I’m going to take you through a series of Sermons that will act as a launching pad for making this vision to become a reality for our church to be known by all in Abiline and all that know of us when they speak about our church i don’t want to hear oh they got good music,.… i’m thankful we do by the waY.… I DON'T WANT TO HEAR OH THEY HAVE A GREAT PASTOR........
NO I want to hear That’s a Christ Centered Bible believing Church One who is living out the scriptures they are making disciples They are Mission minded they are serving locally and abroad That church is a family focused Church.
I love our Families we have done a great Job in this area with the families that have been members for some time. I don't only want to be Family focused for our families or even the Church family while those are a part of being family Focused I want to encourage the Church to engage with other families in you neighborhood at work, visitors that come, that troubled family you know about but still need to reach out to
. Lets Make heaven Crowded what do you Say!
So Lets get into it The First of the Vision is to Have a Christ Centered Church Now Let me first start off by Saying Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.
Therefore A Christ Centered Church must Start off with a deep Love and appreciation and reverence to the Word of God And Not the opinions of a preacher of your husband of your mother of your father of your wife no a deep care for the Word of God For
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
So Our Bibles the Words that you Hold in your Hand have come to us from God Who is Three in One God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit
Faith Comes By listing ing to Jesus Talk to you through His Word
As you listen the Holy Spirit does one of two things He Covicts you by reminding you that your lot living and doing and acting on His Word or He Comforts you by filling you with a passion a overwhelming Joy a peace that suprases all understanding , then when you respond to the Word in Faith by the power of the Holy Spirit Jesus Christ leads you to His father. He removes the guilt that has kept you away from having a deep and intimate relationship he removes you sin as far ans the east is from the west and remembers it no more.
This doesn't start with a simple decision
So many say have you made a decision but what they should ask is have you responded to Christ by putting your faith in Him in His Holy words believing in who he claims to be believing in what he promises to provide have you responded to Him in faith by the power and conviction of the holy Ghost
Before we can make deciples we must first be willing to become one. So many want the prize of Christ without Christ him Self that's like a Man who signed up for a race the prize is one hundred million dollars to the winner he signs up because in his mind he would love to have the money he begins daydreaming about it what he will buy where he will travel what his friends would think when he wins . The man daydreams so much he never trains he never laces his shoes he never goes to a track to condition his body and in the meantime the race is getting closer.................CLOSER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AND >>>>>>>>>>>>>Closer until the big day comes the poor man never studied to know what to eat and what not to eat before the race he never studied what to drink before a race what not to drink he never studied muscle failure leg cramps and to know how to continue when they hit you in the middle of the race so you can continue to compete he never put himself on a treadmill on a leg press he is out of shape but hey at least he showed up for the race right.
The race starts he gives all hes got when the gun goes off on the third mile he begins to fall behind on the fourth his muscles are really on fire now he is loosing strength they are getting real weak he keeps fighing forward inch by inch but falling behind meter by meter until his muscles his lungs his heart have almost completly given out he crosses the finish line not in last place but towards the back of the race and he thinks well at least i finished surly there is a award for that right?
A man who studied the human body who tried daily no missing a day one who conditioned his heart his lungs his muscles to endure the pain the race would inflict on Him
Is called forward by the Judge and hears these words
Well Done You have run the race with endurance you took the painful path that led to the ultimate victory you took it very seriously and Here is your reward.
The other man claps and waits to be called
But no one calls his name and he doest understand i mean at least i participated I ran the Race right I tried right
And the judge looks to him and says
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? “Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. “But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”
You see my dear brothers sisters children its about loving Christ enough to know what he wants for you and what he wants to protect you from The “works” Isn't to save you but evidence of true salvation
We would want to read the love letter God has written just for you don't you know he has loved you and chosen you before the foundations of the World to protect you to give you a hope and a future and we yet we don't know his word enough to know when we are disappointing him disrespecting him denying him and the little we do know we love our son so much we excuse it by saying things like Well he loves me he knows my heart he will forgive me i mean everyone is doing that.
Dont you see if that's your attitude if you knew the word of God you would be stuck eith fear that he knows your heart
You might think you are a pretty good person but the bible say there is none good none worthy all have fallen away that our hearts are deceptive and wicked
To be a Christ centered church we must be a church that loves God Loves His word brought to us by Christ as John says and allow it to convict us and bring change into our lives causing us to walk by the Word not the World
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are reproved by Him; For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.” It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.
to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it. Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
My mother said she would quit smoking one day guess what that day never came many of you are telling yourself you are going to get more serious one day, Unless you get up and do it that day probably will never come because each day you feed your flesh you starve your spirit and your flesh grows stronger and your heart grows closer
Im going to do something ive never done before
If you want to follow Christ and make a covenant with Him to be more intentional in your relationship with him studying like your soul depends on it disciplining you body like a athlete training for a race building a foundation of faith a foundation built on the Solid rock would you come forward and stand over here
If you are not sure if you have ever truly made Jesus the Lord and savior of your life and you want to do so today come and stand over here
And if you want to wait and see what other think Stay right where you are May the Lord and his angels sort out His people this morning
Let us pray , as I pray come forward there is no reason to wait come like everything in your life hangs on this decision here today
