In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Ask:
“Who here knows what a copycat is?”
<Pick 2 volunteers>
I’m gonna ask you guys to copy everything that I do.
“Today, we’re going to talk about what it means to be a J-Copycat—someone who copies Jesus so we can Live Like Jesus.”
Mindset of Jesus = Humility
Mindset of Jesus = Humility
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Read it (summarized for kids or in NIV), then say:
“Jesus was God—but He didn’t show off. He didn’t try to be the boss of everyone. He went low to lift others up. That’s humility. And that’s what it means to live like Jesus.”
Set up:
1 fancy chair (throne-like)
1 plain or small chair
2 kid volunteers
A towel or water bottle (to represent serving)
Action:
One kid sits on the throne with crown.
One kid sits low in a plain chair.
Describe how Jesus had all the power but gave it up.
Have the “Jesus” kid get off the throne, give the better seat to the other kid, and hand them water or wipe their hands with a towel.
Explain:
“Jesus gave up His spot to lift others up. And He didn’t do it to get attention—He did it because He loves us. When you help someone, serve them, or go last instead of first, you’re living like Jesus.”
