Genesis 3:21 NASB 2020

21 And the Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

Intro:

What we see here is the progression of what has taken place in Eden. Man given a command from Genesis 2:16–17 “16 The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for on the day that you eat from it you will certainly die.”” Since this command, an influence introduced an opposing doctrine that caused man to willingly disobey God. And the fruit of their disobedience revealed man trying to cover himself and his wife to recreate the lost image given during their creation. Genesis 3:7 “7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves waist coverings.”

We see something very interesting within the main verse that is worth the exploration. It is rich with God’s mercy, grace, prophetic fulfillment and illustration purpose for humanity in this short verse. Let us take some time, to explore the many things God wants to show us about Himself towards humanity today.

Impact on man

When you ignore the word of YHWH Elohim sin is inevitable.

When you ignore the consequences of God’s law-judgment experienced will surely lead to death (Separation and distance from God)

Man experience the effects of his sin because his reactions to sin took effect immediately.

Vs 7 Their eyes were open (An awareness of their state and standing)

Vs 7 He didn’t realize that this new awareness limited him in Knowledge, Physical Ability, Spiritual Understanding, Relationship with God,

Vs 7 They became aware of their condition before one another Exposed physically and new emotions that hadn’t happened other than joy. (Naked/Ashamed/guilt)

Vs 7 Man tried works to restore the created image he once had by making something to cover his shame. Fig-leaf aprons. (First failed accomplishment)

Vs 8 Man became afraid of God-but, God had regular fellowship with man. (God’s desire is to fellowship with his creation: man and his wife)

Vs 8 Man and his wife hid from God’s fellowship, presence, and image.

Vs 9 Man ignore the call of God temporarily

Vs 10 Man uses his limited reasoning with God because of his new state and standing and confession was introduced before God. “I was afraid” and “I was naked”

Vs 12 Man refuses accountability for his actions

Vs. 12 Man blames God for the provisions God gave to the man in a perfect condition. Audacity must of had a sale on excuses and blatant nerve)

Ten behaviors were expressed by man. But I want to present a word of understanding to everyone. Our sin nature has a debilitating impact on mankind, everyday you live you will have the effect of this world. Hebrews 9:27 “27 And just as it is destined for people to die once, and after this comes judgment,”

Intervention of YHWH Elohim?

God had to address the rebellion that took place with the serpents agenda. (Judgement)

Then God at the close of his judgement toward the serpent shared a prophecy of ultimate defeat which benefited humanity. Genesis 3:15 “15 And I will make enemies Of you and the woman, And of your offspring and her Descendant; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise Him on the heel.””

Man and woman also had to face sentencing before the sovereign creator because of their response to YHWH Elohim command. Sin aways has consequences and judgement. Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Man/Adam must deal with his new responsibilities as part of his fall.
