Tradition is not God’s Word
Acts 11:3 “3 saying, “You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.””

b. God’s Word was Made Flesh.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

c. God’s Word is the message of Life.

Acts 11:1 “1 The apostles and the brothers and sisters who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.”
Acts 11:14 “14 He will speak a message to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’”

17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 I sanctify myself for them, so that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

20 “I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word.

2. God has given you His Spirit!

a. God’s Spirit is Eternal.

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (Genesis 1:2, CSB)

b. God’s Spirit is External.

Where can I go to escape your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence? (Psalm 139:7, CSB)

c. God’s Spirit is Internal.

For those who have received His Word
Acts 11:1 “1 The apostles and the brothers and sisters who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.”
Acts 11:15–17 “15 “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came down on them, just as on us at the beginning. 16 I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 If, then, God gave them the same gift that he also gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I possibly hinder God?””

3. God has given you His Repentance!

a. God’s repentance is a gift.

2 Timothy 2:25 “instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth.”
Evangelical repentance is not at the beck and call of the creature. It is the gift of God.
Arthur Walkington Pink
One of the most fundamental marks of true repentance is a disposition to see our sins as God sees them.
Charles Simeon (Leader of the Evangelical Revival)

b. God’s repentance is a shift.

2 Corinthians 7:10 “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death.”
Luke 19:8–9 “But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord. And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.” “Today salvation has come to this house,” Jesus told him, “because he too is a son of Abraham.”
Man is born with his back toward God. When he truly repents, he turns right around and faces God. Repentance is a change of mind…. Repentance is the tear in the eye of faith. Dwight Lyman Moody (Evangelist)
Let us beware of a repentance without evidence.
J. C. Ryle
9604 To move across from one sort of person to another is the essence of repentance: the liar becomes truthful, the thief, honest, the lewd, pure, the proud, humble.
A. W. Tozer

c. God’s repentance is how you live.

3 This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent—Jesus Christ.

Repentance is a plant that never grows on nature’s dung-hill. The nature must be changed, and repentance must be implanted by the Holy Spirit, or it will never flourish in our hearts.
Charles Spurgeon
There is, in the world, a great deal of sorrow on account of sin which is certainly not repentance, and never leads to it. Sorrow And Sorrow, Volume 46, Sermon #2691 - 2 Corinthians 7:10
Charles Spurgeon
Revelation 2:5 “Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”
