1 Corinthians 12-14 all flow together
1 Corinthians 12:1 TPT
1 My fellow believers, I don’t want you to be confused about spiritual realities.
1 Corinthians 12:2 TPT
2 For you know full well that when you were unbelievers you were often led astray in one way or another by your worship of idols, which are incapable of talking with you.

Paul introduces three guiding principles that distinguish the ways of the Holy Spirit:

1 Corinthians 12:3 TPT
3 Therefore, I want to impart to you an understanding of the following: No one speaking by the Spirit of God would ever say, “Jesus is the accursed one.” No one can say, “Jesus is the Lord Yahweh,” unless the Holy Spirit is speaking through him.
1 Corinthians 12:4 AMP
4 Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same.
1 Corinthians 12:5 AMP
5 And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served].
1 Corinthians 12:6 AMP
6 And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them all in all.
1 Corinthians 12:7 HCSB
7 A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial:
Revelation Gifts: Wisdom, Knowledge, and Discerning of good and evil spirits
Power Gifts: Faith, Healings, and Miracles
Inspirational Gifts: Prophecy, Tongues, and Interpretation
1 Corinthians 12:11 TPT
11 Remember, it is the same Holy Spirit who distributes, activates, and operates these different gifts as he chooses for each believer.
The word of wisdom is a spiritual utterance at a given moment through the Spirit, supernaturally disclosing the mind, purpose, and way of God as applied to a specific situation.

The word of knowledge is a supernatural revelation of information pertaining to a person or an event, given for a specific purpose, usually having to do with an immediate need.

Discerning of spirits is the ability to discern the spirit world, and especially to detect the true source of circumstances or motives of people.
The gift of faith is a unique form of faith that goes beyond natural faith and saving faith. It supernaturally trusts and does not doubt with reference to the specific matters involved.
Thus, we learn that there are four different kinds of faith:
1. Saving faith, which leads one to salvation.
2. General faith, which every believer has.
3. The fruit of faith — or faithfulness — the fruit of the recreated human spirit, which comes after salvation.
4. The gift of faith — or special faith — a supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit, which is imparted after the baptism of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit wills.
Gifts of healings are those healings that God performs supernaturally by the Spirit. The plural suggests that as there are many sicknesses and diseases, the gift is related to healings of many disorders.
The working of miracles is a manifestation of power beyond the ordinary course of natural law. It is a divine enablement to do something that could not be done naturally.
Prophecy is a divine disclosure on behalf of the Spirit, an edifying revelation of the Spirit for the moment (14:3), a sudden insight of the Spirit, prompting exhortation or comfort (14:3, 30).
Different kinds of tongues is the gift of speaking supernaturally in a language not known to the individual. The plural allows different forms, possibly harmonizing the known spoken languages of Acts 2:4-6 and the unknown transrational utterances in Corinthians, designed particularly for praying and singing in the Spirit, mostly for private worship (14:14-19).
The interpretation of tongues is the gift of rendering the transrational (but not irrational) message of the Spirit meaningful to others when exercised in public. It is not the translation of a foreign language.
Note: None of the gifts require a “public” setting, although each may and should be welcomed in corporate gatherings.
