Acts 2:1–5 NKJV
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
Introduction:

1. The Feast of Pentecost is one of three feast that the men of Israel where to present themselves before the Lord. This feast was to thank Him for the harvest.

Lev 23:15-21
Deut 16:9-21
Pentecost is a thank you for the harvest.
In November we have a holiday of thanksgiving, However that Holiday is so close to having to spend a bunch of money its hard to pause and be thankful.
We are an economic culture that is based on money, cash, it would be easy to forget where all of this comes from.
Everything I have comes from God.
Everything I have comes form God.
I believe what I just said twice. How hard is it to live that out. I don’t mean giving to this Church, for me that is easy. it is not giving to others in need that is easy to. one of the things that I have honestly learned is it is  impossible to out give God.
Sometimes I obey God out of habit— to be thankful for what he has done would take some preparation.
Lets take some time together to think about this. Yes, you are gifted at whatever it is that matters to but God made you that way. God created you to be and do who you are-
In what ways can you say that God opened doors for you no doubt? He did that for you!
How many of us are doing things we have never done, going places we would never go.
some of us are living in places and doing things that we never thought where posable.

2. Pentecost empowers our witness in the World.

Acts 1:8 NKJV
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We are called to glow more than Gab. We are called to live more than talk it out.
Everything we do starts with love—
John 3:16–17 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

The only way I can know love is that He first loved us.

John 13:35 NKJV
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Then we love one another.

The Holy Spirit came to change our character.

Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Ephesians 4:22–24 NKJV
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
The truth about Pentecost is not the power to speak in tounges- although that’s part of what happened.
it wasn’t so we can raise the dead-although that can happen through the power of the spirit.
it isn’t about the ‘power gifts’ the real power is to change the way we walk.
to love like Jesus-
to live like Jesus-
then to heal like Jesus.
