🕊️ How Old Is God?
Notes
Transcript
God is eternal — He has no beginning and no end.
The Bible teaches that God exists outside of time.
🕊️ Definition of Eternal (Biblically Speaking)
Eternal means: Without beginning or end; timeless; not bound by the constraints of time or space.
When applied to God, it means He:
• Always existed (no origin or creator)
• Always will exist (no end or death)
• Exists outside of time, but also works within time in His relationship with us
Here are a few key verses:
• Psalm 90:2 – "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."
• Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
• Isaiah 40:28 – "The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable."
He was never born and will never die. He simply is — forever.
God is not limited by time like we are.
He created time, and He sees all things — past, present, and future — at once.
🧠 Think of it this way:
Time is like a book — humans live page by page.
God, the Eternal One, holds the entire book in His hands — beginning to end, all at once.
📖 Biblical Insights on God’s Eternal Nature
He Has No Beginning
Genesis 1:1 starts with “In the beginning, God…” — meaning God already was.
John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word…” (Jesus already existed before creation)
He Has No End
Psalm 102:27 – “But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end.”
He Is Outside of Time
2 Peter 3:8 – “With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
Isaiah 57:15 – God is “the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity.”
🌟 What Does This Mean for Us?
• God never changes – His character, promises, and love are constant (Malachi 3:6)
• God sees all of history at once – past, present, and future are all known to Him
• Eternal life is only possible through union with the eternal God (John 17:3)
Because God is eternal:
• His love never ends
• His promises never fail
• His truth never changes
But here’s the good news — we don’t just learn about God’s eternity...
we are invited to share in it.
✝️ Gospel Connection
Even though we are born, live, and one day die...
God offers eternal life — not just endless time, but life with Him forever.
🕊️ John 17:3 says:
“This is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Eternal life is a gift.
It is not earned. It is received by faith — trusting in Jesus Christ:
• He died for our sins.
• He rose again to conquer death.
• He gives us life that will never end with Him.
❤️ Final Takeaway:
God is eternal — and because of Jesus, we can live with Him forever.
⏳ We are temporary.
✝️ But through faith in Jesus, we receive the gift of eternal life.
🕊️ Life with God that never ends.
