Pentecost Sunday
Scripture Reading from Acts 2:1-21
The Holy Spirit began moving because Jesus ascended to heaven. See the work of the Spirit! He is alive and active, now and through the life of the Apostles.
The Holy Spirit energizes the church for the purpose of pointing people to Jesus Christ.
Energizes them when praying to preach in others native tongues to proclaim the good news.
But what if you don’t feel like you are energized in this way. Are you ineffective? No. The Spirit has a role for you.
Romans 12:4-8
Everyone who believes has gifts from the Spirit. We are connected to God and Christ through his indwelling.
The Holy Spirit has given you a spiritual gift for the purpose of pointing others to Jesus.
Pray and let the Spirt increase these gifts in your life. Begin using them at this church. Pointing others to Jesus by what God has done in you.
When you forget about the Spirit who energizes and equips you, remember the words of Jesus.
John 14:15-20
The Holy Spirit is moving within you for the purpose of pointing you to Jesus.
Jesus gave you the Spirit so you will always be connected to him. How gracious is our God! To give us what we do not deserve. Life and the Holy Spirt.
The rest of Pentecost Sunday is revealed in Acts 2. The Spirit energizes, equips, and moves for our goodness.
Trust in Jesus by responding in faith and be filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:36-41).
Come, Holy Spirit. You are welcome here.
Amen.
