My Translation:
Hebrews 12:1-11
1 For that very reason – since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us rid ourselves of every cumbersome weight and the tightly controlling sin, and through patient endurance let us keep running the race that lies in front of us; 2 let us keep fixing our eyes on the One who originates our faith and brings it to its intended goal – that is, on Jesus, who, because of the joy that lies in front of Him, patiently endured a cross, thinking little of its shame, and He has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider the One who has endured such hostility as this against Himself by sinners, in order that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.
4 You have not yet resisted to the point of blood as you strive against sin, 5 and you have forgotten altogether the exhortation, which instructs you as sons: “My son, do not think lightly of the discipline of the Lord, and do not become weary when chastised by Him; 6 for the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He scourges every son whom He welcomes.
7 You are patiently enduring for the purpose of discipline. God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, in which we all have come to share, then you are illegitimate, and you are not sons.
9 Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh who practiced discipline, and we respected them; shall we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live? 10 For they were disciplining us for a few days as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our benefit, in order that we might share in His holiness.
(Romans 8:28-29)
11 Now every act of discipline does not seem at the present moment to be an occasion for joy but rather for grief; but later on, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
If Jesus, the perfect Son, was brought to the goal through suffering, we also must be.
