Unique Characteristic
We Equip Leaders:
Romans 5:17 NKJV
17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
● We build Christian leaders that set the standard for culture in any environment. Whether on a job site, business meeting, or in the classroom, we aspire to be the salt and light that preserves and illuminates godliness everywhere we go. We are a church for men and women who want to “Reign in life through the one Jesus Christ.”
Leadership is getting people to follow you
Spiritual leadership is getting people to follow the one you’re following
Catalytic Leader:
A catalyst is a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction without being consumed in the process.
It helps reactions occur more efficiently by lowering the energy needed for the reaction to take place.
We should be propelling people into the direction of following Christ
We should make it easy and desirable for people to follow the one you’re following
If you’re a Christian I believe your called to leadership
By the very nature of who you are in christ
You are now a leader
You have something to offer
We have a lot of good managers but not a lot of leaders
Dad’s in the room
What’s the difference:
Leaders create a vision, managers create goals
Leaders change behaviors, managers maintain
Leaders think long term, managers think about today
Leaders examine the affect they have, managers look at how things effect them
True Natural authority only comes through spiritual responsibility
Jesus shook the earth
The disciples turned the world upside down
What the World needs to see in you as a Leader
WE have enough people talking about leadership
but are we doers
James 2:14–17 NKJV
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
3 Things the World Need from You:
1. Character:
Person of integrity
Can you be trusted
Are you believable
Do you believe in what you’re talking about
Proverbs 11:3 NKJV
3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.
Proverbs 10:9 NKJV
9 He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known.
You don’t have to worry about what you say when you speak truth
Titus talks about a pattern of good works
Titus 2:7 NKJV
7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,
As a matter of fact a big way for you to get removed from here is a lack of Character
Character is what sustains you
My parents 40 years of ministry
People of character
The fastest way out of leadership is a lack of character
Leadership is visual before it’s verbal
-you get to be an example
-we are book known and read by all men
-you don’t get to be a voice without being a presence
-people don’t expect perfection, they expect growth
2. Compassion

Theodore Roosevelt: 'Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.'

Matthew 9:36 NKJV
36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
People need to feel Jesus in you
God break my heart for the lost
Jesus saw the broken, the sick, the lost, the weary
Jesus saw people getting owned by their own sin and said there’s a way out for you
When was the last time you were inconvenienced by broken people?
Jesus was often inconvenienced by broken people
Samaritan Woman:
A great example of this is in John 4
Jesus has an encounter with a samaritan woman
After the Assyrian conquest, many Jews intermarried with foreign settlers,
leading to the perception of Samaritans as "half-breeds" and their worship practices as heretical, which fueled long-standing animosity between the two groups.
Most pious Jews would actively avoid Samaria
John 4:4 NKJV
4 But He needed to go through Samaria.
He meet a woman at a well that is alone
Probably an outcast
Definitely looked down upon by the Jews and probably her own people
She didn’t fit it
Jesus sparks up a conversation with her
Of all the people
She’s had failed relationship 5 husbands and now she’s just living in sin
But one encounter with Jesus changed everything
Maybe the least comfortable route
Maybe the least likely of conversation
Maybe in our discomfort is where outcasts the ostracized and the unlikely encounter Jesus
Don’t ever be too busy that you don’t have time for compassion
3. Consistency - Faithfullness
Are you consistent?
Can you repeat good behavior?
not only do people not like following consistent people, they can’t
If you’re inconsistent there’s not a path to follow
here one day then then way over there the next
Are you consistent?
-Enthusiasm is common Perseverance is rare
Consistency is the pre-requisite to being followable
Colossians 1:23 NKJV
23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Consistency vs. Constantly:
Constantly
Constantly late
constantly have a bad attitude
Consistent mediocrity
Constantly have to be reprimanded
Constantly have to be given deadlines
Are you consistent or are people constantly reminding you?
Consistency effects every relationship in your life
The Race to the South Pole:
1911 two parties set off on a race towards the the geographical south pole
The team that made it first to the location
Two men lead teams of people in a race to the finish
Roald Amundsen from Norway (14 men)
Robert Scott a British Naval officer
Robert Scott had a bigger crew, more gear, horses, sledges
Roald had dog sled teams
Despite having more funding and a bigger team
Amundsen beat Scott by 34 days to the south pole, to return with his entire crew of 14 men in tact
Scott lost 5 men including himself on the return from the expedition
What was the difference in the two teams?
Among other things their strategies made the difference in the trip
Roald Amundsen would only travel 15 miles everyday
They didn’t go more they didn’t go less
Everyday the crew knew what they were up against
Whether rain or shine, ice and snow. They went 15 miles a day
Scott planned based on the weather
go 30 miles one day and then 5 the next
Sometimes they wouldn’t make any progress when the conditions were brutal
Then the next day they had to make up for lost time
Make your disciplinary decisions a head of time, don’t wait to see how the weather is going to be
Don’t wait to see what others are doing, we set the tone
4. You might be the only Christ Someone sees
People need to see Christ in you because it might be the only they ever see
2 Corinthians 5:18–20 NKJV
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
You are an ambassador
you represent Christ
Somewhere in your life down the road you will be the only Jesus someone knows
what are you going to do about it?
God is preparing you to lead in the lives of the people around you
Joseph- Genesis
Paraphrase
God prepared Joseph for a problem that didn’t exist yet
He had to endure contradictions to his calling
To His dreams
But he had to have character, he had to be consistent, he had to be compassionate
He saved an entire generation and Egypt
Leadership Training - Lack of accountability
What are you going to do about it?
People need to see Christ in you
Pentecost Sunday:
The Holy Spirit empowers you
What do people see when they look at you?
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Sinners Prayer:
Father God, I give you my life
I give you my heart, I give you my all
I repent today for my past
I thank you my sins are forgiven
I believe in Jesus and that he died on the cross and rose again
I make you the Lord and Savior of my life
I love you God
In Jesus name amen
