Called Higher
We want this series to be encouraging for you and challenging for you. We want it to be encouraging so that you can see right now that you are more valuable than you think. But because you are more valuable, more is expected of you.

Why Are You Here?

Ask everyone.
Why are any of us here? Why do we exist?
Where did you come from?
From our parents! Where did they come from?
Did you know that scientists have tried to find a naturalistic explanation for the origin of life and they can’t do it. Some biologists have even suggested that it is impossible knowing what we already know. So where does life come from?
Genesis 2:7 ESV
7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Psalm 139:13–14 ESV
13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
To the Christian - 1 Cor 6:19-20
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 ESV
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Not only is your life given to you by God, but so is your body.
Ramifications of being given your body by God:
We should honor it.
We should use it the way God intended. (sexually)
We should make the best of what we’ve been given. We haven’t all been given the same thing.
[Ask why are you here again]
This is HOW we are here - but why?
Genesis 1:27 ESV
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Do you know what God thought about images of himself?
Matthew 5:14–16 ESV
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
We are called higher. We are called the image of God. This is why we are here. That is fact. The question is whether or not we believe it in our heart and whether or not we are living into that image.
Discussion question: How well have you been God’s image to others? How does the truth that you ARE his image motivate you to be different?
