1 Corinthians 11:11-12, The Essential Partnership between Man and Woman...

Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me: Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

Introduction...

not trying to step on any toes but if i do, don’t shoot the messenger...
God made man and woman...that’s it...there is no in between...i do not care about surgeries or medicines...male or female.....end of discussion...
the reason, it was all in God’s plan.....Adam and Author can’t reproduce, Eve and Evelyn will have a disagreement on who is the main hen in the hen house...
i have all daughters and i let them know, this is your mama’s house, her kitchen...her rules apply....get your own place...TALK, PREACH.......
but God knew, that one would need the other...
Yes, man was created first but God gave man a helpmate....
not for man to rule over but to work together..
i get so mad when my slow walking wife is too far behind me...i tell her, God put you beside me for a reason...TALK, PREACH.......
working together, walking together, the church will get more done....
the deacon board is not over the missionary sisters....but they should be there to help
the sisters are not over the brotherhood but they should be there to help....
the Pastor is the undershepard, the overseer of it all....to make sure everyone is working together for the edifying of the kingdom.....TALK, PREACH........
i do not have any men at new hope but those ladies will get devotion going and if we do have any deacons come visit, they will digress and let the deacon do what he is supposed to do.....
once again God has a plan and purpose that is in place but the bottom line is that we work together....
that is the essential partnership between man and woman in the church....

All believers, male and female, are equal in the Lord and complementary in the Lord’s work. Their roles are different in function and relationships, not in spirituality or importance

Paul said the same thing to the church in Galatia.… Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” ....TALK, PREACH........
Let’s look at this text...

Story/Text....

before we get to our points for today, we must clearly understand the text today...
one of the reasons Paul writes this 1st epistle to the church at Corinth was to help them stay together and not be divided...
there was a lot going on in the church both from inside and those judaizers coming in...
and one of the issues were the who’s and what’s within the church.....
whose in charge, what is your role, what is your place...
i am better than you, your job is not as important as mine...TALK, PREACH......
from verses 3 thru 16 Paul lays out 6 principles within the text...
1, there is a partnership and order in the universe, v3, 1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”
2, do not embarrass or dishonor anyone, v4-6, 1 Corinthians 11:4–6 “Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.”
3, do not violate the order of creation, v7-10, 1 Corinthians 11:7–10 “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.”
4. recognize the essential partnership between man and woman, v11-12
5, use good common sense, v13-15, 1 Corinthians 11:13–15 “Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”
6, do not contend and argue over customs, v16, 1 Corinthians 11:16 “But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.”
WORK SCRIPTURE, EXCEPT 11-12...
Paul is saying yes there is an order in which things should be done and an order in leadership but we still need to work together...TALK, PREACH.....
It’s not my church, i didn’t die for it...
i can’t pastor myself, i can’t run the usher board, i can’t play the piano....
I can’t....you understand...TALK, PREACH........
this is what Paul was trying to tell the church then and it is still good for us today....
yes there is an order to things but men and women, we are to work together for the edifying of the kingdom..
a divided church is a church that is ineffective
a dived church is a church that will run those off that are truly seeking the Lord...
oh but church working together on one accord...TALK, PREACH......
Let’s look at our text for todays lesson,....

Points....

1 Corinthians 11:11–12 “Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.”
In 1966 James Brown put out a single entitled, It’s a Mans World...
He describes what man has done, example,
You see, man made the cars To take us over the road Man made the train To carry the heavy load Man made the electric light To take us out of the dark Man made the boat for the water Like Noah made the ark
but he comes back with a serious contrast, which i love...
This is a man's, man's, man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Nothing without a woman or a girl
i don’t know if he was looking at the scripture that day, he wrote this but he gives the lesson in the song what Paul was telling the church then and now...
that it takes both of us...man and woman to get things done..
at home, in the world, at church....
there is an essential partnership between man and woman....
let’s walk thru this text...
1 Corinthians 11:11 “Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.”
On top of all Paul has said about male headship in the church, it would be wrong to consider headship as the only dynamic at work between men and women in the church. They must also remember neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man. Men and women need each other, so there is no place for a “lording over” of the men over the women.
So men before you think that we are the boss, no we lead out but work with the women not Lord over them
1 Corinthians E. A Caution concerning a Wrong Conclusion (11:11–12)

Paul’s words in verse 11 would be a corrective to a haughty male boastfulness. He asserts that there is a partnership between the sexes, and in the Lord neither exists without the other.

1 Corinthians E. A Caution concerning a Wrong Conclusion (11:11–12)

“Together they make a unity in which each member is essential.” Their mutual dependence is evident in ordinary life, but it will especially be seen in their mutual spiritual dependence where both are one in Christ Jesus

if i can look at the marriage aspect real quick, I love what Paul says over in chapter 7....1 Corinthians 7:14 “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.” TALK, PREACH.......
together in the Lord we have an essential partnership together....
Next, 1 Corinthians 11:12 “For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.”
Though Paul has recognized the order of creation, and related it to the principle of male headship in the church, he is also careful to remember even so man also comes through woman. There is a critical interdependence that must be recognized, within the framework of male headship in the church and in the home.
I & II Corinthians C. Responsibilities to Heads (11:4–12)

To support this claim, Paul referred to the biological interdependence of men and women. To be sure, woman came from man when Eve was made from Adam’s rib (see

1 Corinthians E. A Caution concerning a Wrong Conclusion (11:11–12)

The man and the woman are not independent beings, but each finds usefulness and importance through a relationship with God that enhances their relationship with one another.

as i prepare to take my seat, i love that last part of verse 12, but all things of God the point is this, it does not matter who is of whom, whether man is of woman or woman of man. Both are of God and both have their place and function and calling and purpose in the edifying of the kingdom. Therefore they both owe their life and allegiance to God.
because if it had not been for the Lord that stepped on nothing and created everything...where would we be...
if it had not been for the Lord, that saw the sins of Adam and Eve, he put them out but He still made a may
if it had not been for the Lord, that knew i was gonna need a good Christian man and woman in life, oh where would I be...talking bout mama, daddy, grandma, grandpa, aunties and uncles...
them working together in the Lord, they introduced me to a man.
a man named Jesus....
