Windows KJV Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

NCV Matthew 6:22  “The eye is a light for the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. And if the only light you have is really darkness, then you have the worst darkness.

To begin with brothers and sisters your eyes are the windows to your soul… Don’t let nobody fool you, the way you see life comes from the inside. Because we have to have a vision. Harriet Du Autermont says

No vision and perish; No ideal, and you’re lost; Your heart must ever cherish Some faith at any cost. Some hope, some dream to cling to, Some melody to sing to, Some service that is high. The eyes are the windows to your soul. And brothers and sisters we must have the faith to believe that God is able.

St Augustine said Faith is to believe what we do not see, and the reward of this faith is to see what we believe. The bible says that in

Matthew 6: 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! I was told a long time ago keep your eyes clean because if you get trash in your eyes you won’t be able to see where you’re going. He said, In other words young preacher “You got a pretty wife go home and enjoy her, don’t look at none of them, because they are waiting for you to slip.” The Eyes are the windows to your soul. And the devil knows what object to put in front of your face.

If you like women he’s going to put that opportunity in front of you on a silver platter.

If you like sipping gin and juice he’ll make it so easy until you can’t resist and then say why didn’t I do this a long time ago.

If you like gambling the devil will let you win, until you lose the wrong money. Because everybody knows that the house always wins…

If you like eating foods that make your vitals go out of wack… You’ll eat that cheese cake and fruit on the top and can’t stop...

If you like shopping the devil will put a sale on something that you feel like you got to have, but the problem is you ain’t got enough in your account to cover that and pay your bills.

The eyes are the windows to your soul And Jesus said 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Let’s further unpack this powerful, potent, and passionate text. In verse 22 The light of the body is the eye.

#1. What light? The song writer said This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine. Jesus gave it to me and I’m going to let it shine. Everywhere I go I’m going to let it shine, oh yeah Shine shine shine I’m going to let it shine.

#2. The eye. The eyes are the windows to your soul and the bible warns against seeing the wrong things because the bible says all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh the lust of the eye and the pride of life.

#3.In the b Clause of verse 22 the bible says “if therefore thine eye be single,” That means that we should not be carried away with every whim and wisk of doctrine just because of sounds good. Dean Mc Dowell said people will follow wrong doctrine all day long. That’s why David said Lord I have sought thee with my whole heart.. With a single focus. Listen you can’t make me doubt Him because I know too much about Him.

Tell your neighbor: Don’t let the devil fool you.

I don’t want to keep you tooo long but In Joshua 7 the things that belong to God belongs to God and we shouldn’t let our eyes see it no other way. The sin was that Achan took treasures from the battle that was supposed to go into the treasury of the Lord. And as a result the Israeli army went up against Ai and got whooped. Joshua cried out and God said It’s Achan who has caused this trouble. Find the stuff and get rid of him and his whole family and God will put His anointing back on Israel. They did that and God came back in the camp as before.

Your eye must be single. Jesus said in the parable of the sower that we can’t let the cares of this world choke the word out of us because of our lust for worldly stuff and things. if therefore thine eye be single,

#4 In the clause in Matthew 6:22 “thy whole body shall be full of light.” Now listen brothers and sisters the One Person that you can’t fool is God.

Tell your neighbor” Nobody can’t fool God… I know I’m right about it because Jesus said I’ve chosen 12 disciples and one of you will betray me. Jesus knew that Judas’ eyes were not all for Him. Jesus knew that Judas’ behavior would be neferious and luciferious and Jesus knew that Judas was more greedy for money than hungry for the word of the ministry.

The bible says if you have the glorious light of God in you then!!!

“thy whole body shall be full of light.” Because as we further research the tint tone and tension in the text we find the flip side of the coin. Every coin got two sides to it, Heads or tails right? Well look at Matthew 6: 23 Let’s read it together “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

I see several things here

#1. But if thine eye be evil, stop right there 3x that means that there is a possibility that your eye could be good or if could be evil because of the little word if. If means that I’m at a fork in the road and I can choose good or I can choose evil, But I can’t choose both.

#2. When did this choice start? Jesus said If thine eye be evil… It seems to me that Jesus has encountered this behavior before.. Perhaps in the Garden of Eden. God said Adam and Eve, Don’t eat off that tree right there… It’s got thousands of trees that bear precious fruit that you can eat off of, But leave that particular tree alone. That’s called the forbidden fruit. Some fruit look mighty good yes sir but it just ain’t good for you to eat. Some men done messed up their happy home eating that particular fruit and some women have eaten off that particular tree and wish that they never would have messed with that fruit at all. ATCSA. But if thine eye be evil.

Tell your neighbor: Don’t let your eyes see the wrong thing baby. Then the text teaches talks and tells us in the b Clause of verse 23 thy whole body shall be full of darkness. Lord have mercy Because Your eyes are the windows to your soul. Can I preach this text a little bit… When Elijah had healed Naaman the leper. Elijah’s servant Jahaziel waited until Naaman nem were far out of town way out in the desert parts of Samaria. He ran off behind Elijah’s back and found them. Then he said Captain Naaman my lord Elijah said that he changed his mind and he would like his payment for the healing of your body. Captain Naaman didn’t think nothing of it because he has gotten his healing. And people will take advantage of you when you’re sick. Yeah 3 x So Naaman gives Jahaziel the money. And the bible says in Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Jahaziel’s eyes saw the wrong thing so he goes and hide the money in a cave somewhere. And when he gets back home to Elijah, Elijah said why you did it..3x You didn’t have that to do!!!! As a result Jahaziel got the same leperocy that Captain Naaman had. Oh brothers and sisters that darkness can creep in on you and before you know it you’re doing unholy stuff that’s got your whole life all messed up. preach Rev Allen.

Then lastly in the c clause of verse 23 the bible says “If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Oo Oo Wee it ain’t another blessing… Brothers and sisters this last section of the sermon is for parents and their children. Do you’ll remember King Solomon? Solomon was the wisest richest and most handsome king that Israel ever had. Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines but Solomon in his older years built shines and temple to other gods because all them women were from other foreign countries. These other women had children and Solomon’s son Rehoboam was made king of Judah in his stead. Rehoboam was as rotten and as wicked as they come OH yeah and Jesus says If you raised them children up to be wicked The word of God says “If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Solomon was the Black Preacher in the bible and he knew better than to raise rotten children. And if we raise our children rotten then don’t get mad or sad or act bad when they do un holy stuff. And the thing about evil is “If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Once you turn evil on, evil takes on a mind of its own. Here’s what I’m talking about ( The radio in your car, has an on and off button or switch or something right. Well just imagine evil, in your car and you say I don’t like that song and you go too turn the channel but it channel doesn’t turn, then you go to turn the radio off but the switch isn’t working and then you’re stuck with what you don’t want, stuck with what you don’t need and stuck with the worst scenario possible all because you let evil in. The eyes are the windows to the soul.

And so as I close here today, Just make sure that you’re eyes are on the Lord.....… Because when the bible says in 2 Chronicles 20:5  that tah Jehoshaphat stood before the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, Great God He was in front of the new courtyard at the Temple of the LORD.

6. And Jehoshaphat prayed, to God He said “O LORD, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. um um um .

You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; and no one can stand against you!

Jehoshaphat prayed that they had enemies that surrounded by the city and that If God didn’t help them they would perish.

And so church when we are up against powerful enemies we ought to have a little talk with the Lord um um um. Because just a little talk with Jesus will make everything alright today . Oh Lordy !

And I heard Jehoshaphat praying saying now Lord now now now Lord In Verse 12 Jehoshaphat said “O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.

I’m out of here now but our eyes are upon you Lord Because The eyes are the windows to the soul. Ah yes it is. Ain’t He Alright.
