Opening Scripture:
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
Luke 16 begins with Jesus telling a parable about a shrewd manager.
In this parable a manager is about to be fired mismanaging his masters wealth.
Before Losing his job the manager shrewdly reduces the debt owed by others to gain favor with them, hoping that they will return the favor once he is unemployed.
We often complain about our starting point because it’s not as big to something else or its not what we had envisioned..
God will give you a BIG VISION that requires Him to assist you — it’s to heavy for you to carry on your own.
Even when you have a God sized vision it ALWAYS requires a humbled/small beginning.
A wise person doesn’t just entrust a million dollar estate or business without first seeing what you are capable of.
God starts us off small so that we can identify areas where we need to trust God more in so that we can be effective in the promised land.
God is faithful in the small things/starting point just as He is with the big things
What Starts Off Small, Grows into something BIG!
What Starts Off Small, Grows into something BIG!
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
In this parable Jesus tells of a couple different servants how had been entrusted with a portion of their master’s wealth and each of them for except one did well what was entrusted to them.
When their master came back after a period of time he was pleased with the majority because they were able to return to him more then what he had entrusted to them.
However, there was one servant who hid the portion that entrusted to him so he was only able to give his master back the same amount in which had been entrusted to him instead of an increase.
The master was unpleased with this servant and cast him away into a dark place.
God celebrates when we do well with what He has entrusted to us
Often times we feel that we have to handle this vision alone…
How can we handle a God sized vision that was designed to be way to heavy for us to carry on our own?
We need God to come along side of us and help us to carry out the vision that He has placed inside of us.
We MUST always remember that good stewardship requires humility
Good Stewardship is coming to the realization that we can’t do anything apart from God — We need Him with us in all things.
We often get tripped up in the beginning because of the trap of comparison
God reminds us that He does a new thing — This means what God has given you is NOT going to look anything else like someone else’s vision.
Don’t despise the humble beginnings but instead embrace them and enjoy them… its within this season that God shows us how to be faithful, how to be a good steward, and He develops our Character.
How Are You Handling It?
How Are You Handling It?
Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful.
God has given us the opportunity to manage something in our lives…
God gives us a seed to see how we will 1) plant the seed, 2) Nurture the seed, and 3) know when to harvest the blessing
When God sees that we are capable of correctly handling and caring for that in which He has entrusted to us He will begin to give us more.
Often times we want to jump straight to having an abundance to only discover we wasted everything that we were given.
Wisdom begins to develop in the learning stages of the starting point
Everything that God does is a process
The process is used by God to develop us in becoming the men and women that He has created us to be
To be faithful we must TRUST God
To be faithful we must Learn from God
To be faithful we must have a solid/foundational/consistent walk with God
To be faithful we must have a teachable spirit — not getting offended when we are corrected
Don’t Give Up, It’s Coming!
Don’t Give Up, It’s Coming!
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Even the small thing, the starting point is a good thing!
in Zechariah 4:10 the prophet reminds us not to despise the small things because God rejoices at seeing the work beginning
Just as our Father in heaven rejoices at our starting point so can we
We can rejoice because God is faithful — The God who has called us to such a great work will see it come into completion for His glory!
Just as a farmer sows seed and reaps a harvest in due season so shall we…
We must remember that when we plant the seed that God has given us we must wait on God to bring the increase
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes for we learn from our mistakes
It’s not a matter of if it is only a matter of when… When God has called something into existence it will come to pass!!
Are you ready to carry what God has given you?
