The Most Important Commandment

25 One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?”

27 The man answered, “ ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

28 “Right!” Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!”

The Teacher of Religious Law was lost more than he ever knew

He asked a question to expose error in Jesus not even realizing his own insufficiencies

Vs 26 Jesus turns the question on him he says what does the law say and how do you read it

in other words tell me what you believe and why you believe it

the teacher knew what the law said (He easily quoted the two greatest commandments), but he didn’t know what it meant

wait a minute he has association and reputation for knowing and he don’t even really know

He’s lost and don’t even know it

can i suggest that the worst thing in this world is to be lost and not know it

to be on the wrong path and not know it

to be headed down the wrong road and not even know it

to be hanging with the wrong crowd and not even know it
