Introduction

Greetings:
I want to begin today by saying how thankful I am to the very warm reception I received from everyone with this new podcast.
Corey told me it how many watched this podcast over the various sights and I am honored that so many took time out of their day to study with me.
I will do my best to keep biblically unfolding the precious message of God’s word with you all each week.
Today, on The Word Unfolded, we are going to be looking at Genesis 2.
In this great chapter we find a continuation of one particular aspect of what took place on the sixth day of Creation.
The creation of mankind and God’s obvious love for him.

God Loves Man

Look At All He Did For Man

We read that God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed “life” or “spirit” into him.
Genesis 2:7 ESV
7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 ESV
7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
We read that God made a special garden, the Garden of Eden, for Adam alone at first.
Genesis 2:8–9 ESV
8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
We even read that God made a special person for Adam, after seeing it was not good for him to be alone.
Genesis 2:18 ESV
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Genesis 2:21–22 ESV
21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.
We then read, the most powerful part of this chapter and…

The Real Focus Of This Chapter

That is what we read in Genesis 2:24.
Genesis 2:24 ESV
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Why is this the real focus?
Because in this single verse the Law of Marriage is established and the family is created.
Now God has a way to intimately describe his relationship with his creation.
God, from this point on, can show rearing love for us as a Father.
John 1:12–13 ESV
12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
God, from this point on, is found to show his loving authority over us as our Husband.
Ephesians 5:23 ESV
23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
Revelation 19:7 ESV
7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready
God, from this point on, is found to show his understanding love for us as our brother.
Hebrews 2:11–12 ESV
11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, 12 saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.

Conclusion

In Genesis 2 we not only see God’s great love for us in creation, but we see him establishing how he is going to be describing how he see his relationship with us through our intimate relationship with our family.
