Free From The Flesh (Liberty)
Free From The Flesh (Liberty)
Contrary to what professing Christians like to think, many of God’s people are not willing to walk in perfect agreement with Him, and this may explain why so many believers do not have the power of the Spirit, the peace of the Spirit and many of the other qualities, gifts and benefits which the Spirit of God brings.
A. W. Tozer
I am going to be saying and teaching some truths that some of you will not like. While others will be excited to hear the truth.
I am going to make a statement right now that I want you hear. As I have struggled for many years with identifying with any denomination and yes that counts non denominational as well.
I am going to coin a new phase. Reformed Spirit Filled
Reformed: having been changed in such a way as to be improved
The problem we have in todays Spirit Filled Churches is the level of False teachings that have indoctrinated our belief system.
We now fight truth like its the devil because we “KNOW” what we believe.
I want to start this teaching off with me repenting for taking a Passive approach to all the junk that is socially acceptable in church.
I have been chastised all my walk for being different and somewhere along the way I allowed myself to yield.
1 IN [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].
There were those Jews that wanted the gentiles that came to faith to adhere to circumcision.
1 But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
There is no place for legalism in the church today!
12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
We either walk according to the Holy Spirit or we walk according to the evil spirit. Augustine once compared man to a horse who is either ridden by Satan or by the Spirit of God.
R. C. Sproul
To be truly led by the Holy Spirit means I am coming to a place where I learn to die to the flesh and all of its cravings, that cry to be satisfied!
We have lowered a Life in the Spirit to how loud we can shout Hallelujah, how much church we attend, talking in tongues, our bank account, our positions or even how big your ministry are.
14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
I can absolutely tell you what a Walk in the Spirit isn’t! It is not a walk that is Sinful, Hateful or Divisive!
In our country we are absolutely about to destroy one another over hate for the other side. How many of these people do you think profess to be saved? In a nation that is supposedly made up of 62% christians!!
22 But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,
23 Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].
24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.
25 If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]
26 Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.
A life in the Spirit “WILL” lead you to Love as Christ and to “DENY” your flesh!
And I will certainly die on this hill …… if you do not start walking in these two elements of a true Holy Spirit life; I will say, you do not know the same Jesus I know!
To walk by the Spirit is to live with moment-by-moment dependency on and sensitivity to the initial promptings of the Holy Spirit. It is a lifestyle. It is my hope that you will begin today.
