Kingdom Prayer

When you greet someone, what is the most apparent thing? I think it is the person’s posture. I’m not talking about merely how tall they stand or whether their shoulders are slouched or not, but their entire approach. Do they shake hands, or shy back,
Matthew 6:9–15 ESV
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
"May His great name be glorified and sanctified in the world that He created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and during the lifetime of the whole house of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, "Amen."-Qaddish/Kaddish

3 Petitions for the Father’s Glory

3 Petitions for the Disciples needs, not Greeds

Matthew (a) Priorities: Three Petitions for the Father’s Glory (6:9–10)

The “Lord’s Prayer” is in fact the model prayer for his disciples. It is not a mantra to be repeated mindlessly or superstitiously but an example of a prayer informed by kingdom values, the kind of prayer a disciple should pray.

Matthew 6:9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Person addressed in Prayer
Matthew 6:9-10 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Priorities by which Prayers are produced
“God’s name represents his person and character, God’s kingdom is the earthly imposition of his character, and God’s will flows from his character”
The family imagery speaks of the intimacy of the disciples’ relationship to God, but the qualifier “in heaven” reminds one that God is not a pal
Family of Grace who Cultivates Belonging in Christ for Kirksville.
When prayer is made, God’s goodness and greatness must be carefully balanced to achieve intimacy without sentimentality, on the one hand, and reverence without austerity, on the other.
Matthew 6:11-13 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Problems that Kingdom Citizens pray about
