Truth and righteousness is found in God! 1:5 2. Fellowship only comes through Jesus Christ’s death. 1:6-7 3. We must acknowledge the truth that we are sinners and need forgiveness. 1:8-10 4. Jesus is the solution to our sin. 2:1-2 WE ARE SINNERS AND JESUS IS THE SOLUTION TO OUR SIN— FOR SALVATION AND RIGHTEOUS LIVING! APPLICATION 1. Man’s genuinely holding on to a belief does not make it truth—many are deceived from following the truth of God. APPLICATION 2. When I acknowledge that I have sin I . . . A. Am accepting that God establishes the standard for holiness. B. Must agree with God about my sin (confess). C. Must realize I cannot solve my sin on my own. APPLICATION 3. I have no ability to deal with my own sin – I need help! 4. Jesus’ shed blood satisfies the just demands of a righteous God. 5. I must confess my sin to enjoy the forgiveness of God and fellowship with God. APPLICATION 6. I can live in the confidence that Jesus forgives my sin when I believe and confess my sin giving me salvation and a right relationship with God. JESUS IS THE ANSWER TO OUR SIN! CONFESS YOUR SIN AND DEPEND UPON THE WORK OF CHRIST!
