From Orphans to Heirs (Love Egham)

You're a wonderful people. I say that and I'm looking at you I'm saying you're a wonderful people. Believe it or not because not know because of the way you made your face up this morning. Not because of the way you did your hair because God created you. Yeah, sometimes we look in the mirror and we go, you look great today. You looking to get wrinkly today but God still loves us. God still loves us. I'll miss Father's Day. I want to speak to his subjects about cultivating, a generous Spirit. Kelsey racing a generous Spirit got to do with all this bite. Okay cuz I'm not talkin about your money so you can put it away again. I'm not when I went preacher start talkin about a generous spirit is often just before giving time it's up to before special offering and I kind of like come on, get your wallets out. Church of the Holy Spirit today is not teaching us about giving, but I'll write then to see how our freedom. About Warfare in the spiritual Realm. This is not a message about money, so you could all relax. This is a message about using my heart.

I want to expose three spiritual realities to get a stuff. It number one. Who's the best father. Has a generous Spirit the spirit of sonship. we sang that in that song this morning, Do you know what? We also have in the worlds we have a spirit of poverty. Inspira poverty stands up against the spirit of generosity.

How do you spell lying Spirit rooted in fear? I know it's another spirit. I also want to talk about now, which is pretty prevalent in the world today, and that's the orphan spirit.

The open spirit is destructive. It causes us to question our identity in Christ. I'm consequently, we won the who we are as children. So I want to pry let the word of God speak to our hearts today. Let the word of God touches changes move has the flowing from the father Heart Of God would be. He's generous spirit. If you want to, if you want to walk into the second classroom, down the steps on the way to the toilets, you'll see there's a few couples in there. Sun. God's Got A Generous Spirit to water flows from him. Generosity is not just about money. What else? Have you got to put your money in your pockets were empty. What could you give What else? Look what else? Nice, yes. What else? Hey Jess. What what else? So if I should just go get yourself a little bit ago. So give our attention. We can give our skills or those things to put on any of those, send me the father, sometimes we fight, sometimes we have a problem with money is a pill that needs to be paid and we don't quite know how we going to do it and we in a small mindedness, probably give me the money. I see what we need to say. Is, God help me to pay the bill. Cuz he might not pay the bill by giving you the money, he might pay the bill by get canceling. The bill that's happens happens. There are people in this church who's Bill's somebody, so he said, don't worry about it. It's happened to us achieving this lost yet. Some people who want you to do something said, don't worry about it. Thank you. Don't say generous, God, we don't just have to give you my money. We need to give him a call.

God's interested in all of us. Sometimes you'll find headlines in the newspaper, to talk about Born Again. Church is church, is full of the spirit, ask their members to give 10%, or more of the type is just a starting point. It all belongs to God, it all belongs to God. I want to reflect the heart of a father. Matthew 7 verse 11 says this. If you then though you are evil. Know how to give good gifts to your children.

How much more would your father in heaven? Give good gifts to those, who ask him. A generous Spirit lives from a full of abundance. Not once in all bank account, but what's in our heart?

2. Corinthians 9:6 through 8 will also reap sparingly and whoever so generously will also reap generously. God, loves a cheerful giver and God is able to bless you. And me abundantly

The generous spirit gives time gives honor, his forgiveness gives encouragement. And one of the things we miss in the world, all the time is encouragement that the world is full of discourage people. People do a good job and nobody even says thank you. I don't know how many times try this next time. You're out sometime this week. Stand somewhere as you can. I need to show up for getting into a building and hold the door, open and stand there and hold the door open. I just count, how many people actually even acknowledge. You number one, how many people say thank you? Then how many people look at you? Are all different ways of acknowledging as and I'm quite happy to hold the door open. That's not the problem. Just you know what? I want people to. I want to encourage people to encourage one another and I think I have seven or eight people just walked through the door head down, didn't even notice that I was holding the door open for them. So when did the last person went through it with a big voice? So I said Thank you and some of the people that made them jump And then they smiled. And then I think I realized I hadn't said thank you. Okay. So that's the spirit of Heart Of God. God is generous to Waters. I want to talk about something that's counted to order that and that's the spirit of poverty. Yeah, I believe it's a stronghold in, in, in mankind, in life, possibly even in the church that we allow our poverty mentality to creep into wall thinking,

Let me give you a simple example. Sometimes of the fellowship face will have people to bring food and paper size. I want to bring too much cuz I don't I don't want it to be wasted unless I want them to be able to feed 5000 5000 sign up. The Parts House on Sunday, I will be an interesting challenge to have wood in it. We should fill the hold of the field outside. We had a fantastic. but you know sometimes we have a publicity mentality that says I'll just bring just enough cuz I don't want to waste Well, I understand that from a planet point of view, we don't want to waste, but you know what? We can be generous. And one of the things I love at the end of the fellowship face has been applied to people. Please type something home. Please take something out of him, some people's accounts, I'm watching my white. What I want to say to you, is that food, could be your Outreach tool. You could take a plate for the cookies home, instead of eating them yourself. And what you could do is take them home and go knock on the neighbor's door and say, hey, we had some access at church on this afternoon, I'd love to share it with you. Would you like a few cookies and they might say, yes, please, why don't you come in and have a coffee with me? And we'll share the cookies together. Now, you got a chance to talk. You got a few cookies sometimes. We can kind of think about to speeding ourselves. Do you know what the word out that needs to see a generous Spirit the wild out that needs to church. In Revelation 3 verse 17 says you say, I am rich. I have a quad wealth, and do need a thing. Do not need nothing, but you do not realize that you are wretched, 54, blinds, and Nike. That's a really strong scripture. Do you know what? Just because we looked good on the outside, doesn't mean that we're rich inside the tool. You can have some very you can have people to walk around in thousand dollar suits. They look just right but inside that cry now that'll only the side. Yeah, and I'm sure you could think of places where you paint as well, but I had the privilege to be at the number places in the world where they don't have a football. I saw they screw up a piece of paper and stick it up, his sticky type, and then they kick it. The full of hype around. Yeah, they're all children. I know who is that football went flat like to do now? And they'll be other children, still be taking the flat football around because they're having fun. And sometimes we can allow publicity mentality. Security pain. There's a danger with material wealth. How do we think, how do we trust? How do we live? Sometimes the father needs to say, I want you to give because my Storehouse is full and I can give to you.

Poverty mentality will reveal itself with things like fear of loss. Sometimes we won't invest because we're fearful of loss. We like to hold to Rob them to sew. I'm just giving you an example so I can put it in the offering with my mindset, okay, I'm walking home today, 30 40 minute walk, not a problem, but 30 40 minutes. So, I am to my pockets. What's a generous, God? End of the service. He came up to me, and he said, what are you doing for lunch? Lunch with me and my family. I met another student when they had lunch with Harry and his family. and then when the meal is finished, what you think he said,

I'm in the bus company, got less money out of me. Can I go on lunch? And I got blessed to know if we have a policy meant to this day. I still think maybe Harry wouldn't have invited me. What happened to my pocket? So I don't know, cuz I'm account. Repeat the experiment. a complete, The Experiment full of Lost with we hold rather than so,

we keeping up weight. Think of this, we keep enough wheat in the van, so they've got enough food to feed us Robin thinking about the next season starting for the next season. People are suspicious of generosity. Yesterday, we got about a hundred and the previous week, we gave 750 pastries yesterday, we gave out about 160, pastries and cookies on 8th and High Street.

I'm people's. I would like the pastries. How much can I play? We don't want you to pay. Then they then they kind of took a little step back from a woman. So what you want and I don't want anything, I just want to bless you. Be blessed. Thank you. But some people came by for a second one. I said, there's nothing wrong with that but you know, people are suspicious of generosity. But you know what, the culture of God's kingdom is different to the culture this world. So generosity comes in his general staff, we will wash the impact of the spirit of Public Safety.

People, how? Maybe God's giving you something and you share it with somebody else and you see them kind of kind of cower little bit inside, right for you. Is that you don't the blessing? But I want to celebrate your blessing. I want to celebrate your blessing that shared blessings with others and I got life verse 1 chapter 6. Well, sweetie, can you have plummeted March? but harvested, little You earn wages only to put them in the past with holes in it. Bible sometimes I play. Why would you put money in the past? But he's got holes in it. Why would you even keep the puss that's got holes in it. I know it might be a precious but it might be a really old but might be hundreds of years, but it's not functioning as a person anymore.

Who's the ounce. I think sometimes the church and you and me will operate in a spirit of poverty because we believe that God is limited in Saint. Michael is constrained in some way, God is able to do. Scripture says, God is able to do in measurably more than we ask or imagine.

Helping skills, that means unmeasurable.

Immeasurably more than you asked for imagine. Then we kind of have an independent Spirit. It says we'll all manage managing with what he's got. We've got to get to trust God. We've got to get to trust God. There are people in this room. I know who are walking through stuff at the moment, which means that you'll current physical capability, your Current financial capability, Pre-Sequel situation limits, you right now, but you'll believe in God for MO. And I want to stand with you. If I we want to stand with you is church in prayer and see those things come through because I'll go to generous god. So let's not view him as a small. One of the challenges I think set into church in Britain has his We Believe God's a bit like a Victorian father and today on Father's Day I can children have to be seen and not heard so you were standing to attention to be dressed in your Sunday Best and you wouldn't say anything. Until you are asked to speak that would have been very much the culture. You know what? I think, God loves children, he loves you and me, he loves us to run into his presence, I help.

I had the privilege of teaching. Lots and lots, and lots and lots of little children. Am I love the moment when that playing on the floor doing something in the classroom and you can see that I struggling may be struggling to assemble some bricks and build a tower will do something and you can see them struggling and you want to join in Free Will. It's also the spirit. The orphan spirit, it's a spirit of insecurity.

It's a spirit. This is the place to be honest. Spirit that says, I'm alone.

I need a fact everything that affects our attitude in relationships. It affects all administrative worship. It affects all leadership. if we think we were alone and we doing on the Run, I think everybody in this room at some point you found the moment when you're doing something for somebody else or some but some an event or something and you find yourself doing on your phone,

the orphan Spirit kicks in and go see, you're on your own. You might even do that this morning as we set up church for those people, you might find yourself in the room on your own doing something. If you open Spirit cakes and say you're on your own, no one's helping you You know what gets my mind away from that is who I'm doing it for. I don't put chairs out on a Sunday for you. Like practically. I do. I do it for him. Are supposed to put the flags in for the back. For you, it's for him. Jonathan doesn't stick. I'm one of the greatest ways of dealing with the open spirit is to recognize who our father is Judy said, right? At the. Beginning of this. The father promises he won't leave. Us is open.

many of us can act like elephants are all people in the church who will act like Wilkins will try and do it on the rain, will try to do it around my And how we might recognize that Jesus, some of the things and you might recognize some of these things in yourself that we compete for attention.

Or maybe with desperate for approval. We waiting for that, no one loves me. No one appreciates me looking and that's why I encourage. Mine is so important. Encouragement continues to remove that in those kind of Direction. Sometimes we were afraid with the open Spirit of being rejected of getting it wrong cuz we might get it wrong. One of the things that church needs to grow up too, and we need to go out to it. Also yet, he's giving people spice to get it wrong, once in awhile, It's okay to get it wrong. Eugenia correct email, how many months ago it was. But I started talking about the Garden of Eden. I was talking about the Garden of Gethsemane or the other way around, but we will have them off, and I felt very embarrassed. So, what? Sometimes we don't even start because we're fearful of rejection. And here's the thing that really kicks in around the father Is sometimes with suspicious of authority and if people come from backgrounds, but maybe afterwards, he has done wrong things in your situation on your circumstance, and as a consequence, that's the place we don't trust government, authority, figure.

So, we is church. We are leaders. Need to be humble. We need to be more like the father. Don't we need six? I come, come to be part of the family, be part of the biggest family Romans. 8:15, says this. The spirits you receive does not make you slaves. So that you live in fear again, rather the spiritual receive bought you about about your adoption to sonship unblock him. We cry, Abba Father have a father, one of those things that I have a father Daddy, daddy.

We need to learn to rest in the Father's Love. One of the things that deals with the orphan mentality is recognizing who our father is and resting in his presence resting in his love. Sons & Daughters, give because they Trust. Trust in him. Trust in his willingness to be generous.

How can I say this? You might say, how can you say these kind of things, Galatians 5 verse 1, It is for Freedom that Christ has set us free stand firm then and do not let yourself be burdened again by yoke of slavery.

Thanks fam. Christ has set us free. He's paid the price. So, let's consider some steps. We might take To step into generosity to step away from poverty and to, not be open-minded. Number one, repented, the lies you sometimes. We accept people say I'm no good at this. Makes you say that I've never been any good at it as you think, then the other watching, the wonderful questions. Do you get annoyed when little children go? So why is the sky blue? And then you give some kind of explosion, they got it. So why is that true? And I keep on asking, why I remember my precious, son of a friend of ours, who wanted his route, bedroom painted, tomato red. Because his mom was the kind of mommy wanted to go with the flow. She said, okay, I'm going to paint your bedroom tomorrow. So red, the room. Got painted tomorrow. So right. He walked in and she said what you think and he said, we're at the Pips.

I miss you, daddy. His question exactly. His question was not just tomorrow ready. Also inside of it. Should I walk? So then. So let's think through this question, so why do so? You know, because I'm not sure you probably get back to somebody said something. Maybe your mom, your dad, your brother, your sister a teacher. Somebody said, so you never any good at languages. I need sticks and we build upon it cuz we keep on repeating it. We keep on declaring it. We keep on speaking it over. Also, I'm the blesser Irene's not with the Lord, but I remember Irene would say, you would say something, like, see you next week, she said, the Lord willing I future was awaiting your times. If I'm able to tell you, I will help you. It may not be in my skill-set but I don't need to rubbish Myself by saying I'm by the help of. Yeah, it's an engine that's about the limit of where I get to look. So that's repent of some of these lies that we believe that maybe we keep on repeating. Let me give you a few examples cuz I really want to make this very practical. The number one, there's not enough. Take me to price. How did the feeding of the 5000? But I don't know whether it's people put in their pockets or genuinely multiply the food they got fed. Another lie. I'm on my own.

Under biggie. I can't trust.

Second thing would be to receive the spirit of adoption. The spoken about in Romans 8, verse 16, the spirit himself, testifies, with our spirit that we are God's children. Tell both of them thinking about cells is open. Father, thank you for creating me. Thank you, that you are that for me, thank you. That you are listening to me. Thank you. I'm moved by my prize. I just received the spirit of adoption. Release, what's in your hand? Ring are totally wrong about sometimes we just talked about holding on Rob than sowing and reaping. A generous Spirit, a generous mindset breaks, the power of poverty. Giving a phone is all Sun ship. As we show we trust the father, how do we do this? Where we can both thing to renew our minds daily. Romans 12:2. Do not conform yourself to the patent of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds. And finally, walking relationship and religion. I had a few times in conversation is just like people saying, all the time. Time to chat cuz I'm to religion and I had the answer coming back from various different people, not to do I Cuz I've got a personal relationship with Jesus.

I'm about to stick a. So the question today is not whether God is generous, it's whether we trust him. I'll say that again. It's not whether God is generous is what do we trust him with our future with our current situations with uncertainty? Go will never leave you nor forsake you do you think you gave me that dream? No it where I am.

Well, maybe he looked a little further and said that, despite the fact that I'm in prison, you'll still on the throne. Despite the fact that I'm in poverty,

allow me to ask of you for the riches of Heaven.

We are not poor. We are not orphans. We are not abandoned. You are Sons and Daughters of the Living. God, whether you're home with your listing lights, or whether you're in the review, and I are children of the Living God and it's really our choice as to how we relate to our mom and dad off the, Our Father in heaven. I'm going to close just with a little bit of a testimony, but, you know, my parents didn't get on, and I used to sometimes end up standing in the middle being defending, my mom, maybe that relates to some of you. So I really didn't like my dad very much, he left. And I had a mindset about my dad that he left me was my fault. Like many children, do many teenagers and children lose their, but even though it's nothing to do with them, the children go away, is my father. He's not here or Mommy's going to hear whatever the situation. It's my fault. And so we walk around with that mental. I'm the one that's remind me. Another one that's looking off to me. I don't. You see if I scared the other, the other parents are why? So we got isolated, we get pizza, we get twisted. That's where I used to. I used to go upstairs sometimes and play music. I just just just lose myself some music today. I still can't listen to because that for me I'll places that I go to. That would make me feel sad and disappointed, take me back to that place. I don't need to go there anymore cuz I'm like pieces of music. They changed God's going to turn it around for me but you know what? I had to rebuild my relationship with my dad. I'll have to look at him differently. How to look at them through a different lens. My heavenly father needed to give me a different lens to look at my Earthly. Father. My mom passed and I had the privilege of being at Mike, that's wedding. A part of my dad's wedding when he got married again. I'll tell you what, my attitude to my dad was different. Then when I preached to his funeral, you know, my dad, my dad was a different dad to me, I've got a different lens. I wasn't looking through the rubbish, the past, so church. I wanted to clarify a few things. Number one, don't see, generous God, we need a generous spirit. We need to leave behind often mentality and we need to leave behind poverty to the mindset. It's not you. I feel like I talked about people playing with paper footballs, with very little So I'm going to cry, so I'm going to close. I want to encourage you to close your eyes. I'm going to say to you, if it's one of these things just touched you right now at this something you need to leave behind. If it's, as if there's a spiritual mindset, do you need to step out all? This is a fruitfulness. You need to step into which you stand right now. Going to keep a nice clothes for those at home. If you want to stand to, that will be fine and I was going to see you, but just want to stand and acknowledge that Lord. I need you to help me how to where I am to where I need to be. I need to let go of some of the stuff that I'm holding onto cuz it feels safe, secure in normal. And I need to step into in life. Hold of the things that you have for me.

I'm going to picture even this on Prime right now. Even if I'm just talkin of somebody who's not like able to lay hold of something else, because your hands are full of the past. I'm the father just says, put the pots down, just put the paws down. This, something that you will pick up again, but you need to get hold of me again First. Once you got hold of me again, then you can lay hold of some of the pieces of the past, but I still want you to hang on to that good in that Pleasant, and that wonderful things. Father, I thank you for everybody. Thank you for those eyes. You spoken to die. Father, I pray, you'd break the poverty mentality. In Jesus name. Father, would you break? Would you break open the oil of what? She been a father. When she released the sense of smell of your presence in this place that I know, but you caused us to walk without a new brightness and spring in her step, father. Would you rather than look down to you rotten to our own resources? Father? Would you help us to be men and women of faith? Father where we have chosen and laid hold of an orphan mentality. For the help us to see the big family around us. The family that has a Heavenly family. Help us to see you. I still loving father God that you really are and help us to walk into yarn Bryce, help us tell a hold of who you are. Helpless to touch. Lord, God, who you are? We praying? Jesus dying. Father, I pray that you release your life, your spirit to us, right now. Release your life and spirit to us in Jesus name, amen.
