We want YOU in GOD’S ARMY
I do love my football and military analogies
If you love football, then you have likely followed the draft and all the trade and free agent action for your Team
The GM makes offers, and get deals down hopefully to build a better team
a team is exactly that
EVERYONE MUST PLAY THERE ROLE
some of us listening today
are QB —- the leader
others the LINE —— the protectors
others the WR AND RB ——— meant to score the points for GOD’s TEAM
They must work together
The best running back in the WORLD is worthless if NO ONE BLOCKS
because the DEFENSE is looking to DISRUPT THE PLAY

GOD HAS A TEAM
and GUESS WHAT
THAT TEAM IS YOU
and
GOD HAS EACH NOT ONLY GRANTED US A ROLE< BUT GAVE US THE GIFTS TO DO IT
Today we are looking at 1 Cor 12
titled Spiritual gifts in my Bible
and what we need to keep forefront for this message is
that
HE WANT YOU IN GOD’S ARMY ——- HIS ARMY
its like playing on the team that you already now is winning the Super Bowl, but they will not go undefeated.
HE WANT YOU IN HIS ARMY
let me emphasize a WORD
IN
God wants YOU
You are NEVER CALLED to be a CHAIR WARMER
CHAIR WARMERS WATCH
There is a battle going on —— and too many Christians are sitting and watching
They think that being in a building that is having a concert and a Pastor tickling their ears
earns them a gold star
The GET THE FEEL GOOD
and they go about the next 166 hours of the week.
and frankly that is if they come at all
TWO FACTS FROM SCRIPTURE
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;
5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;
6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.
VARIETY OF GIFTS
and
GOD EMPOWERS THEM
GOD GIVES Good GIFTS
I believe SCRIPTURE
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
a few years ago, I gave a little SUV to a family, I wanted to bless them
They were overjoyed
Then an odd thing happened, THEY DID NOT USE IT
i must admit that i was disappointed
you see i didn’t want glory from the gift
but i yearned to see the blessing.

Since we are in the image of God
Since we are called to be HIM on Earth
to the lost
then i must wonder if GOD ever feels the same way
Last week we discussed the seriousness of Communion
and we are in the same context
Paul is saying we must be IN
We must be WORKING IN HIS CHURCH
IF YOU ARE NOT WORKING IN YOUR CHURCH
Then i loving ask you to SEARCH your heart
We are not touch with a GOD FINGER and then called to do what we want
We are SAVED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS
FOR HIS PURPOSE
7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

I love you
and because of that I PREACH THE TRUTH
I test the WORDS that i preach so that they are IN LINE with GOD’s Message
If you are choosing ANYTHING in this world over CHRIST
then you are not sending the message that YOU ARE CALLED
IF you choose to watch football over serving your church,
or you choose kids sports over being with your church family
What message do you send
What priority do those around you SEE in YOU?
Do you do CHURCH when it fits in your schedule?
Do you say NO to things,
because GLORIFYING HIM AND GROWING OTHERS is your MISSION?
I used to love to RUN in 5Ks, 10 k , marathons
and when i was in PA
they were on Saturday mornings
I never thought any different
in the NORTHERN BIBLE BELT
the influx of the WORLD into CHURCH time was delayed
Into the 1990s there we still facets of the law that were practiced
When i was a kid there was nothing open —- not food or pharmacy or gas station until after 12
You were NOT allowed to sell cars on a SUNDAY ——- COULD NOT BUY ALCOHOL any where
it goes on and on
then i moved to NEW MEXICO and was shocked.
I signed up for RUN FOR THE ZOO
and then lost my money because it was on a SUNDAY
and SUNDAY I SERVED
THINK ABOUT THAT
CHECK YOUR PRIORITY
DO YOU SAY NO, because SUNDAY I SERVE
I am not preaching SUNDAY SERVICE ONLY
nor does the SCRIPTURE TEACH THAT
It is my LIFE IS SERVICE TO HIM
I don’t preach the GOSPEL on SUNDAY alone
Nor should you live like a SUNDAY ONLY CHRISTIAN
We are going to talk next week about the HOW WE WORK TOGETHER as one
and i want to rip into that today… but NO
Today i need YOU to HEAR THE WORD OF GOD
GOD GAVE YOU GIFTS
and YOU ARE TO USE THEM
DAILY, HOURLY, EVERY BREATH
COMMIT TO YOUR CALLING
COMMIT TO YOUR CALLING
I am uncertain
whether today
I am a BEGGER OR A RECRUITER
BUT I KNOW THIS
and it was learned in ministry
In a small church
a person looks around and see something needs to be done
and realizes that they must do it because there is a NEED
in a large church the same thing needs done
and the person looks around and says AH, with this many people
someone else will do it.
That is one of the many reasons i believe in small churches
I think we are going to see that in next weeks message also

here is the last point today
11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.
POWERED BY THE SPIRIT
and APPORTIONED by HIS WILL
simple
GOD brought you to this CHURCH
I love HIM and YOU because of that FACT
GOD GAVE YOU A GIFT or a NUMBER OF GIFTS
Remember that family that got the car
Remember the disappointment in them not using it.
NOW YOU KNOW
GOD gave you GIFTS
and it breaks HIS HEART when YOU DON’t USE THEM
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;
5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;
6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.
7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
Lets help each other to identify these gifts
Lets help each other to USE this gifts
lets help each other to prioritize the THINGS of GOD in our DAILY LIFE
