Pull it together

Acts 2:1 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”

In today’s day and age we face so many things that pull us in different directions. weather is our work, Family, Friends or even hobbies has a way at demanding our attention. It seems as if you cant even focus good on one project before your attention is being pull into a different direction. Have you ever heard your name called while you were in the process of doing something and drew your attention in that direction only to fin dout it wasnt as important as you thought. Now you have wasted precious time catering to a situation that was a waste a time. Time is one comity that you can never get back. Time is valuable, precious and undervalued and if it ‘s not paid attion to it can slip away from you. Time is the continuous progression of existence that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, and into the future. In order words time dont stop it continues to go on. In the Bible, time is understood as a created entity, a framework within which God's redemptive history unfolds. It's both linear (moving forward) and purposeful, pointing towards a future fulfillment of God's plan. Time is seen as a gift from God, allowing His purposes to be revealed and accomplished. Time is a gift and should be cared for like any other gift that God gives BUt what happens is that we take God for granted and the gifts that he gives us and we quote scriptures like Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. But we forget the scripture that says 1 corinthians 12:11 But all of these that one and the selfsame Spirit worketh, apportioning to every man individually as He will, meaning he gives gifts to whom every he want to gie the gift to. thats back by Job 1:21 and said, “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Let us not get besides ourselves and forget to honor and cherish the percious gift of time. Now althought time keeps on ticking, let us not forget that in order for us to waste our time we must remain focussed to the task at hand. All of our attention need to locked in on the assignment.

Jesus was real big on unity and togetherness. John 17: 22  that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  It is only in true unity that we will ever experince the togethernesses that Jesus speaks of. Throughout our lives we’ve oly e4xperinced the opposite, where we hae been betrayed, trick, lied to and conned, in situations and instances where we only wanted unity. Once you’ve been burned its so hard to trust again, its hard to open up to the fact that this could happen again. So you decide with in your self that I am not going to let this happen to again. So you become distant, closed off, withdrawn, reserved and cautions in dealing with others because of your dealings and your previous interactions with ppl and your the decision that you made to not trust anyone again. Before you even allowed your self the opportunity to try again you quit. Ppl of God I want to remind you that we do not play by the words rules. No Im not saying go out there and trust so easily again but dont close out the possibilities of trusting again. What begins to happen is when you make an unwise decision time after time after time after time you begin to doubt yourself and your own judgement those casuing you to be at war with yourself. Being at war with your self looks like this: you know you shouldnt but you do and your regret doing it. You buy something and your suppose to be saving, you buy it anyway and now you have buyers remorse. You said you were over it but when you saw them you went OFF! and now you feel bad. Forgiving yourself is one of the most challeging things that we could ever face because we dont think were wrong and we justify why what we did was right even tho its wrong. Being at odds with yourself causes you to procrastinate, doubt yourself and the decisions you make and you depend on yourself instead of God. James 1: 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Thus causing your to be all over the place. One minute your here now your there, your in now your out, onw minute your with me now now your against me, one moment your happy then your sad, one minutet you love me then you hate me, theres nothing consistent about you or your dealings because you mind is all over the place. In the type of environment its impossible for God to use you to your full capacity because your mind is’nt totally made up.

The book of Acts follows the synaptic gospels, which gave an account of the life and ministry of our Lord and savior Jesus Chirst. The book starts off with the final directions of Jesus after he rose form the dead. Instructing them to wait for the promise of God and they all gathered together in the upper room. the upper room became a place of preparation for ministry; a place of prayer; a place they could be without worldly distractions; a place of profound communion with God. We are not experiencing God in. a way that transformative because we are not in the place where we should be in order to meet him.( breakdown- We need to be where we suppose to be cause we need him)

This upper room was a gathering place, to prepare and to pray kinda sounds like a church. This place was set aside for the purpose of communing with others and to meet God, sounds more and more like a church. This was the purpose for the upper room. Now Jesus told them wait there… Wait, wait is curse word nowadays. Wait doesnt mean No, it means not right now. So they waited as Jesus instructed them until they recieved the promise. Are promises are right at he door if we can just wait! Some of us are at the point of breakthrough only if we can just wait. We are about to come into the full ness of Joy if we can just wait, you are about to see victory in every area of your life if you could just wait. Wait on the promises of god, Wait on his timing, wait even when you dont undertand, wait on God when every one is rushing, wait even if it seems unconventional, wait even if you cant see clearly, wait especially when you dont knnow which way to go. Theres a promise waiting for us if we could just wait, "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength. Theres a second wind coming to those who wait.

Waiting is a prequelsit, to experincing God and the renewed strength of God, so they waited as instructed. and then after they waited the day of Pentacost was fully come. Pentacost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. Pentacost also called feast of weeks and this feast have been going on since Moses received the the law on Mount sinai. Pentacost marks the the formal and public beginning of the church. Some of us has have been going to church all of our lives and have yet to fully come to God. we read our bibles and have yet to fully come to God, We pray and have yet to fully come to God, we witness and have yet to fully come to God. The start of the beginning for you is to fully come to God. Its imppossible to fully come to God while your being distracted, its impossible to come to God being double minded, Its impossible to come to God when you dont really wanna go to him in the first place. When we fully come to God, change will happen for you. The second part of the scripture says, They were all with one accrod and in one place. Everybody was on the same page, ( break it down) in one place ( break it down) .
