Rev. 11:15-19
A study on Revelation
Introduction: The last time we studied Revelation, we learned that we are here in the final stages of the interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpet. The seventh trumpet will now sound the third woe. We learned that these trumpets were direct attacks by Satan against mankind. They were terrible indictments on the world because of the sin of the world. God is preparing the world for His coming.
This trumpet announces that Christ has taken over the world which fulfills the Old Testament prophecies: Psalm 2:2 and Dan. 2:44
I. The announcement v. 15
A. The voices v. 15a
1. The seventh angel now sounds the trumpet according God’s timing.
2. Heaven has now entered into the plan of God-great voices all point to Him who is the center of the announcement.
3. This shows us we need to have Christ in the center of our lives, in the center of our families, and the center of our community.
B. The message v. 15b
1. The kingdoms of the world belong to Christ-interesting the devil offered them to Him Matt. 4:1ff-Satan offered Jesus something He already owned.
2. The perpetuity of His reign-forever and ever-His reign does not run out.
3. God will capture His real estate back from the hand of the devil.
4. This will be fulfilled at the Second Coming makes it clear that the period of Seventh trumpet chronologically reaches to Christ’s return.
5. The seventh trumpet introduces and includes the seven bowl judgments found in chapter 16.
II. The adoration vv. 16-17
A. The people v. 16
1. The four and twenty elders-those in heaven will make sure all glory goes to the Lamb.
2. The fell down and worshipped Him for His power and character.
3. Their song of praise indicates that the time has come for God to judge the nations, to judge the dead, and reward God’s servants.
B. The message v. 17
1. He is given thanks for who He is-notice His eternality.
2. He has the power to take all that belongs to Him.
3. This may be going back to the end of the Tribulation Period.
III. The anger vv. 18-19
A. Humanity v. 18
1. The nations were angry because of His authority-He reigns righteously-they want to have their own way. They want to worship the creature instead of the Creator Rom. 1:25.
2. They want to cast off all restraints which will result into another Babylon chapters 17-18.
3. Here we have three events that take place
a. Gentile nations angry
b. Wicked dead will be punished
c. Righteous will be rewarded.
B. Divinity v. 19
1. Here at this point the earthly temple has been defiled by the Antichrist-appears that all of God’s plans have been foiled by the Devil.
2. However, God opens heaven to be seen from the earth so that they realize the ark of God is still in the heavenly temple-this represents God’s presence and faithfulness.
3. All of nature points to the power of God and His judgment on the earth to gain dominion over the earth for His plan.
Conclusion: This last trumpet shows us who Christ really is. He is the our power and our King. Do we have in in the right place in our lives?
