Goal for the Week: To understand who we are, why we are here, and what we are supposed to do.
Answers
Who are we?
God’s special creation made in His image.
Why are we here?
We were created to glorify God.
everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
whom I formed and made.”
What are we supposed to do?
We praise Him!
We bring Him glory with our words, lives, and voices.
Singing is a way that we express our love for Him because it communicates in a way that goes far beyond, far deeper, than simply speaking words.
This is what our verses for the week say...
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being..
Why do we sing?
To worship God.
What does it mean to worship?
To tell Him, to show Him, that He is worthy.
And He is the only one who is worthy of our praise!
What does praise mean?
You know when you do a good job on something (music, baseball, dance, whatever you like to do!) and your parents or friends tell you that it was awesome?
That is praise!
It is saying, “You are awesome!” “You do things well!” “I am impressed and blown away by you!”
Why is He worth of our worship and praise?
Sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy are in his place.
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come before him!
Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
He is worthy because He is awesome!
He is glorious!
We give Him glory, we sing to Him, because He is due the glory.
It is what He deserves because He is good, strong, holy.
It is what is right.
God made us to worship Him.
Tomorrow we are going to talk about how God made us special.
He made everything.
But, He made us different than the fish and the trees and the monkeys and the birds and the bugs and everything else!
