The Heart of a Godly Father: Loving with Purpose
The Heart of a Godly Father: Loving with Purpose
The Good Samaritan is a classic example of loving your neighbor. But think about it: What if the Samaritan had walked by and said, 'Not my problem!'? Instead, he chose the unexpected route, helped a stranger, and paid for his care. Imagine if, in our daily lives, we went out of our way to help those we don’t even know! Loving your neighbor isn’t always easy, but it can lead to amazing stories!
Bible Passage: Matthew 22:37
Bible Passage: Matthew 22:37
Summary: In Matthew 22:37, the command to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, which is foundational for understanding the role of a Christian father and husband in the community.
Application: Christian fathers and husbands are to embrace their role as first: spiritual leaders, showcasing how their love (meaning to obey. John 14:21) for God can transform their families and communities, leading by example in love and strength.
21 The one who has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father. I also will love him and will reveal myself to him.”
Teaching: The central command of loving God intimately influences how fathers and husbands should love their families and engage with their community, reinforcing that true love reflects God’s love.
Big Idea: A godly father and husband fulfills his role by loving God wholeheartedly, which empowers him to lead his family and impact his community positively.
Now, in one of the text of this Men Under the Tree talk the Apostle Paul reminds Pastor, son and Father Timothy that God did not give him the spirit of a coward.-the lack of moral strength:
7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” -Power- ability and strength to execute our duties . For Timothy it was the ability or power to preach the Word God in his community in the face of opposition.
