Father’s Day
Father’s Day
14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”
16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
As I begin I want to do something for the fathers in the room that seldom gets done. Usually on mother’s day we spend the day talkng about how godly mothers are a source of strength and grace for people. And on father’s day it sounds more like a boot camp on what is being done wrong on dad’s everywhere. And in that I want to change that, there are good dads out there that are working everyday to make the family stronger, they are doing more than working to provide a paycheck, they are purposely teaching their children to take on the world and be christians in a world that doesn’t care very much for us. To you I say good job! I know that there are still dads out there that aren’t doing their job, they are checking out because of reasons that number as many as there are dads. While we can prove that statistically that where dads are prevalent in the church the family is strong, and the church is strong too, we also have statistics that show that dads are committing suicide at higher rates, that among divorces that husbands and fathers make up less than 20 percent of people that ask for divorce and seldom get to see their children. There are statistics out there that are so one sided that many young men out there are determining to never father any children or ever get married. Today I’m thankful that I do not sit in a room with those statistics, how many of you know that the God of all shatters the statistics, that Jesus comes in and changes things.
what makes someone God’s people.
to be short, it’s that they are in Christ.
this is not new in Gen 12 we see that God tells Abraham that anyone that blesses him will be blessed.
6 He says, “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
11 “Many nations will join themselves to the Lord in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.
in the NT of course we have things like John 3:16
God has always wanted everyone everywhere to be His people.
The command to fill the earth can be looked at as simple as a command to fill the earth with His image.
The Lord’s prayer is let Your Will be done In earth as in heaven.
Romans 9 is wildly looked at in modern times as a book that makes God look look as if He’s only called a certain people to Himself. But you see here’s the thing.
Conclusion:
Discuss with the people about the podcast the other night and the rise of racism in some church circles and the damage that comes with seeing color or nationality above Christ.
Christ is the final revelation of God, and God has always been the dividing line, the Objective standard that set folks apart, you are royal priesthood a holy nation.
