...evil and adulterous generation...
Heavenly Father we come before you in Christ Yahusha’s Holy Name, to praise and thank you for all things given in His name. Thank you Jesus for our Salvation in you and all our gifts from above. As we study today together, we thank you for your presence among us, where 2 or more are gathered, there you are., and shall we agree as touching anything we ask in your Name, it shall be done of our Father in Heaven. Thank you for your guidance through the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Holy Name...so be it!
Matt 12.
Here is Jesus walking the walk and doing the will of God but constantly being questioned by the pharisees. Such an annoying read, like they never stop, right? Always looking to point out the law, the law, that they don’t follow themselves. You know its funny, when i was just reading this I think of the world we live in today, where we have these “scribes, politicians, and even religious leaders” trying to tell us what is right and wrong, as they are in complete sin themselves...we’ll get to that.
Jesus and the disciples are hungry...
3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
Haggai 2:7–9 “7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: And I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts. 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: And in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.”
7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
Hosea 6:6 “6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”
In Matthew 9:13 “13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
He is telling them of His authority, they should know who He is, these are men of the Torah right? But, they keep enticing Him… Mat 12:10
10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
Here we go again, this is just complete confirmation that Christ is Truth, the Way, Truth & Life! Why, because evil opposes Him constantly. This is our lesson over and over
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
He just mentioned this in Matt 7. Our instructions are simple to not follow these people, be ye separate, ...and the promise of
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
He is showing them Love, Grace, and Mercy in the lost sheep, its ok to do good on the Sabbath. They just cant see or hear it, its sad. The law the law the law...that they dont follow themselves... But His will be done!
As we see in 1 Corinthians 13:1 “1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”
Now they want to kill Him...Matthew 12:14 “14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.”
15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
16 And charged them that they should not make him known:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
This is Isaiah 42:1–3 …
Mat 12:22-37.
He continues to heal and preach where people are amazed and the pharisees embarrassed. So, they continue to accuse Him.
