2 Corinthians 6:14-18

“Separate”, “Separated”, and “Separation”
1st occurrence:
Genesis 13:9 KJV
Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
Separation was required because of difference of heart.
Genesis 13:14 KJV
And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
God’s blessings was the result.
Leviticus 12:2 KJV
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
Separation is accountable because a birth happened.
Separation is accomplished because everyone knew it happened.
There are some THINGS we are to separate from:

I. We Are To Separate From Profane People. vs.14-15

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
In marriage we are to be yoked only to other born again believers.
Example: At the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is Christ yoked up to unbelievers?
In ministry we are to be yoked only to other born again believers.
Our church’s membership roll consists only of born again baptized believers.
In missions we are to be yoked only to other born again believers.
Missionaries we are to seek support from Heaven not political grandstanding and churches that do not carry the Bible and believe right.
There are some THINGS we are to separate from:
I. We Are To Separate From Profane People. vs.14-15

II. We Are To Separate From Profane Places. v.16

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Ezekiel 42:20 KJV
He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.
"True, solid, and scriptural theology is not characterized movement but stability.” (Tragedy of Compromise)

Colossians 1:23 KJV
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
2 Timothy 1:3 KJV
I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
We are to contend for the faith, not compromise.
Jude 3 KJV
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
There are some THINGS we are to separate from:
I. We Are To Separate From Profane People. vs.14-15
II. We Are To Separate From Profane Places. v.16

III. We Are To Separate From Profane Preachers. vs.17-18

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Proverbs 19:27 KJV
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
"Apostasy creeps rather than runs into the church. (Tragedy of Compromise p. 94)
Jude 4 KJV
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Conclusion:

Are you separated?
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Psalm 66:18 KJV
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Our choice is simple:
Walk in separation and fellowship with God through Jesus Christ having prayers answered, Bible truth made alive, and peace.
Walk in ecumenicism and forsake God with no prayers answered until you give up praying, dull Bible time, no church, and chaos.
