The Role of the Wife (Ephesians 5:22-24)

Wives are to be Subject (vs.23-24)

Subject -  to be or become inclined or willing to submit to orders or wishes of others or showing such inclination.
God the Father and God the Son of are equal importance, but have separate roles.
God the Father and God the Son are one, yet the Son was submissive to the Father.
Every lady can submit. They submit every time they get on Amazon!
Your blessings don’t come from your husband, they come from God. You being in subjection to your husband is being obedient to God, not your husband.
Subject because of the Curse
This is in direct effect of the curse in the garden.
Genesis 3:16 “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”
1 Timothy 2:9–14 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”
Subject for the sake of Conversion
1 Peter 2:18-3:13,
The Lord wants the submitted woman to win over the disobedient husband to obedience which would be impossible if she is disobedient to God’s word.
Proverbs 14:1 “Every wise woman buildeth her house: But the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”
Subject for the sake of Consecration
1 Peter 3:5 “For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:”
If you want to show that you are a holy woman, then you need to be under subjection to your husband.
Showed holiness, not by their suit, but by their submission.
Showed holiness, not by their dress, but by their devotion.
MEN, every time Abraham messed up, it caused Sarah to mess us too. LADIES, Sarah didn’t leave him: she trusted God to straighten him out.
Subject for the sake of Completeness
Colossians 3:18 “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.”
If you want the pieces of your life’s puzzle to fit, the wife needs to be subject to her husband.
You can’t force the piece into it’s place. You can’t try to fit you in authority of the home, cause it won’t fit in God’s plan!

Wives are to be in Style (1 Peter 3)

Adorn -  to be or become provided with something intended to increase its beauty or distinction.
Not just physical beauty, but spiritual beauty.
Physical beauty might get you married, but it may not keep you there!
You don’t have to look like a Quaker or the Amish to adorned. You can look beautiful and be adorned. (Ladies don’t have to wear sweats all the time)
Not In Style

Discretion - the trait of judging wisely and objectively.

Brawling - heated, violent disagreement.
Proverbs 21:19 “It is better to dwell in the wilderness, Than with a contentious and an angry woman.” (No Gladness)

Scorpions, snakes, bears, poison ivy, dirty water, mosquitos, no bathrooms, no comfy bed, hot days and hot nights is better than coming home to a contentious and angry woman.
Proverbs 19:13 “A foolish son is the calamity of his father: And the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.”
Contentions - quarrelsome, bitter conflict
Proverbs 27:15 “A continual dropping in a very rainy day And a contentious woman are alike.”
