Why is important to give our best to the Lord

Numbers 18:29 CSB
29 You must present the entire offering due the Lord from all your gifts. The best part of the tenth is to be consecrated.
Genesis 4:3–5 CSB
3 In the course of time Cain presented some of the land’s produce as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also presented an offering—some of the firstborn of his flock and their fat portions. The Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, 5 but he did not have regard for Cain and his offering. Cain was furious, and he looked despondent.
1 Chronicles 29:14 CSB
14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your own hand.
Proverbs 3:9–10 CSB
9 Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest; 10 then your barns will be completely filled, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
“Giving your best to God shows the value you put on your relationship with him. If you are trying to get away with something less than the best, your motives reveal that God is not first in your life. Since your worship reflects your heart’s condition, giving your best to God reflects what you think of him. Giving less than your best cheapens God’s best gift to you—eternal life through the death and resurrection of his own Son, Jesus.”
The One Year Mini for Men
Gilbert Beers
Cain brought “some” of the land’s produce...
Abel brought the “first born”
We can bring something or we can the best/first, not just some but the best of...
First fruit, not left over
We go to him first, not as a last resort
Hear him first, not second or last
Give his portion first not after everything else
How does that look for us?
Our worship
Our time
Our talent
Our tithe/money
Our attention
Our obedience
Our attitude
This will always be a fruit of our value or real love for Him.
Our treasure will always be where are heart is...
What you value will always be revealed in where you invest your time, talent, money, and attention.
When we can sing every word of our favorite country song and have to have the lyrics to sing a worship chorus. What does that tell you?
We say we love God, but our time is spent on other things and not His house, voice, word, purpose. Our attention is on our needs and wants, more than His will for our lives.
What is that about?
Love the Lord with all your heart the greatest commandment...
If you love me you will keep my commandments...
What we do always speaks louder, than what we say.
Who is first in your life?
