Big Buts

Psalm 30:1–5 NASB95
1 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me. 2 O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. 3 O Lord, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. 4 Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
Discussing with my children on multiple occasions I have tried to use the english language in a way that is both helpful and accurate, even though I myself am bad at using it I know that words mean something.
I’ve taught yall here that when there is a word “therefore” in a statement, we ask ourselves , “What’s it there for?”
similarly when you see a “but” in a statement it has the power to negate the parts before it.
When you see a “but” things before it are negated. -Jerry Brooks
There are times that you Encouragement, then there are times when you need the Gospel
The morning is sweetest when the night is bitter, When you dead resurrection is the most important you don’t think about anything else when what you need is just outside of your reach.
This is kinda like the universal “bless your heart”
In the opening Psalm there is a statement that is used a lot, weeping endures for a night BUT joy comes in the morning.
John 16:16–22 NASB95
16 “A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.” 17 Some of His disciples then said to one another, “What is this thing He is telling us, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because I go to the Father’?” 18 So they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what He is talking about.” 19 Jesus knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, “Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me’? 20 “Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy. 21 “Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world. 22 “Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
These BUTs are important because they show the believer what to expect in his relationship with God, you see there are going to be hard times.

Encouragement

John 16:33 NASB95
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
We’re discussing and studying the book of Revelation on Wednesday nights, if you are missing the services they are online.
You see we have become guilty of confusing tribulation, judgement, and persecution. Biblically speaking Jesus couldn’t be more clear. There is going to be troubles, trials, even tribulations in these days, and why do we not dispair? Because the BUT in John 16:33

Biggest But

Acts 2:21–24 NASB95
21And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ 22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know— 23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. 24 “But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
He WAS dead BUT GOD!
this leads us to
Ephesians 2:1–6 NASB95
1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
