Identify lies: Know the source of truth. 18-23 2. Believe truth: Believing the lie results in not knowing God; Believing truth results in eternal life. 22-25 3. Rest in the work of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit reveals truth and does not lie. 26-27 FAITHFULLY BELIEVING THE GOSPEL TRUTH REVEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALS GENUINE FAITH. GENUINE BELIEF REMAINS FAITHFUL TO THE GOSPEL TRUTH. APPLICATION 1. Genuine faith will result in a faithful belief of the gospel because of the Work of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life. 2. Become effective at identifying the lies of the world! HOW TO IDENTIFY LIES 1. Know right theology. 2. Listen critically. 3. Remember that you are not the standard for what is true. 4. Evaluate by the truth of the Bible. 5. Remember that Satan will seek to deceive through multiple avenues. 6. Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to know truth and know lies when you hear them. 7. Stay alert to false doctrine and call it out when you see or hear it! APPLICATION 1. Genuine faith will result in a faithful belief of the gospel because of the Work of the Holy Spirit in a person’s life. 2. Become effective at identifying the lies of the world! 3. Rest secure in your salvation knowing that the Holy Spirit keeps believers true to the gospel. GENUINE BELIEF REMAINS FAITHFUL TO THE GOSPEL TRUTH. OUR RESPONSIBILITY: IDENTIFY LIES, BELIEVE TRUTH, REST IN THE HOLY SPIRITS WORK IN OUR HEARTS.
