All That Matters
Finding clarity when the world gets loud
✝️ Key Scripture:
Philippians 3:7-8 (NIV)
"But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord..."
“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord...”
🎵 SONG CONNECTION – SKILLET:
🎵 SONG CONNECTION – SKILLET:
In their 2024 song “All That Matters,” Skillet sings:
“I will fight for what I love,
I will fight for who I am,
You are all that matters now.”
It’s more than just a catchy anthem—it’s a cry from the heart of someone who’s been through fire, sifted through the distractions, and come out with clarity: Only a few things truly matter in this life.
🗣️ INTRODUCTION:
🗣️ INTRODUCTION:
Let’s be honest: life is noisy.
You wake up, and the noise starts. Notifications. Pressures. Expectations. FOMO. Drama. Anxiety.
The world tells you what you should chase:
Be famous.
Be rich.
Be perfect.
Be everything to everyone.
But then one day… you realize none of that fills your soul.
You realize that all of it is temporary.
You begin to ask the big question: What really matters?
Today’s message is about clearing the clutter—about seeing what really counts when everything else fades.
Let’s let God speak through His Word—and through a rock song that echoes His truth.
🧭 POINT 1: FAITH OVER FEAR
🧭 POINT 1: FAITH OVER FEAR
Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Faith is not a feeling—it’s a foundation.
In a world built on fear, faith is a rebellion. It says:
“I don’t have to see it to believe it.”
“I don’t need all the answers to trust God.”
“Even if life gets hard, I still know who my anchor is.”
🎸 Skillet sings:
“You are the fire in my soul,
You're the reason I hold on.”
Illustration: Imagine being on a boat in the middle of a storm. Everything's shaking, the sky’s dark, waves are crashing. What keeps the boat from drifting? The anchor. That’s what faith is in your life—it holds you when everything else moves.
✅ Application:
What are you trusting today? A job? A relationship? Your own strength?
Faith in Christ is the only thing strong enough to hold you when the storm hits.
🧭 POINT 2: FAMILY OVER FAME
🧭 POINT 2: FAMILY OVER FAME
Joshua 24:15 – “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Skillet talks about fighting for love—and that love includes the people God has put in your life.
Family doesn’t always mean blood. It can mean your church, your friends, your small group—the ones who walk with you.
But culture says, “Be famous. Be impressive.”
God says, “Be faithful. Love the ones near you.”
🧱 Fame fades, but family fights with you.
Illustration: Think of the Prodigal Son. When he lost everything, it wasn’t strangers who welcomed him—it was his father. (Luke 15)
✅ Application:
Are you nurturing the people God gave you?
Or are you chasing attention from people who don’t even know your name?
🧭 POINT 3: FREEDOM OVER CHAOS
🧭 POINT 3: FREEDOM OVER CHAOS
Galatians 5:1 – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”
There’s a tension in the song—you hear someone fighting back. And that’s the fight for spiritual freedom.
Chaos will come. Fear will rise. But Jesus didn’t save you so you could live in panic—He saved you for peace.
🎸 Skillet sings:
“You're the peace inside my head,
You’re the strength beneath my skin.”
Illustration: You can be in a loud room and still feel peace when you’ve got headphones on with calming music. In the same way, you can walk through a storm and still have peace when your heart is tuned into God.
✅ Application:
Are you living from freedom—or from fear, addiction, anxiety, and people-pleasing?
Jesus didn’t die so you could stay in chains.
🧭 POINT 4: PURPOSE OVER POPULARITY
🧭 POINT 4: PURPOSE OVER POPULARITY
Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.”
Skillet reminds us:
“I’m not living for the noise. I’m living for the truth.”
You weren’t made to fit in—you were made to stand out for God’s glory.
Purpose is doing what God created you to do, even when it costs something.
🎸 When you know your why, you stop chasing likes.
Illustration: Jesus didn’t live to be popular—He lived to fulfill His mission. And He changed eternity. The same power that raised Him lives in you.
✅ Application:
Are you more focused on being noticed… or being faithful?
🧎♂️ CLOSING CALL:
🧎♂️ CLOSING CALL:
Let me ask you today:
Have you been caught up in the noise?
Are you chasing things that won’t matter in 10 years—let alone 10,000 years?
Because here’s the truth: Jesus is all that matters.
🎵 Skillet says it straight:
“You are all that matters now.”
Not your past.
Not your mistakes.
Not your followers.
Jesus. Is. Enough.
🙏 ALTAR CALL / RESPONSE:
🙏 ALTAR CALL / RESPONSE:
If you're tired of chasing what doesn't satisfy…
If you’re ready to refocus your life on what truly matters…
If you're done with fear, done with fake, and ready for freedom…
Then today is your moment.
Come to the altar.
Come back to Christ.
Let Him remind you of who you are.
💬 CLOSING SPOKEN WORD (Optional):
💬 CLOSING SPOKEN WORD (Optional):
What matters most
Isn’t found in titles or trophies
But in truth.
Not in noise, but in peace.
Not in being seen, but being known.
And the One who knows you best
Is the One who loves you most.
Jesus.
All that matters.
