This is important to know these five types because they help you read, interpret, and apply it to your life
We take the Bible literally but that doesn’t mean that it is all literal
There are some scripture that are figurative
Some people believe most of the Bible is an allegory
You will hear them say that about the Pentateuch
Didn’t happen, was just stories to help us understand creation
Narrative
This includes all history, stories, and the author narrating
Epistles
These are the NT books that are letters from the Apostles to churches or people
Parables
These were short stories that Jesus used to illustrate spiritual points
Poetry
These are primarily the poetic books like Psalms, Proverbs, & SOS but can include some of the poetry in other books
Prophecy
27% of the Bible is prophecy
Over 1/4
Some is judgmental prophecy
God is going judge Israel unless they repent
Other prophecy is Messianic, pertaining to Christ’s birth, death, & Resurrection
Some prophecy is Eschatological
It talks about end times
Most prophecy in the Bible has been fulfilled
