Peace

John 16:33

Let us describe peace.....The nature of peace.....The state of well-being.....tranquility. God is at peace because He does all things right. My dad used to say that if you couldn’t sleep it is because you are not living right......I don’t think that is the case with everyone, but you get the premise......If everything is settled and done right and honestly, then you can rest easy!

God is at rest with Who He is and what He does! 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” .....He is the God of order...

We are out with God because of sin........enmity or hostility is between us and God because of sin..........God Himself through His Son has made peace.....Colossians 1:20 “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” .......Ephesians 2:11–15 “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;”

Isaiah 26:3–4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: For in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” .....Peace is also knowing the future and trusting the One Who holds the future......

Perfect peace is from the God the Father through Jesus Christ.....

Peace with God through the finished work of Jesus Christ

Romans 5:1–2 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Peace in God because of His ability, His goodness, His love, He does not lie nor change, His faithfulness.

1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

We must believe........Perfect peace comes from a mind that is stayed/fixed upon God the Father.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

John 16:25-33........Jesus is speaking to the disciples prior to His crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ultimately His ascension.....”Asking in the Name of Jesus means simply asking on the basis of Jesus’ merit, His righteousness,, and for whatever would honor and glorify Him......

In Jesus then is our peace....In Jesus we have peace, the world is full of trouble, but in Jesus we have the right peace.

There will be future woes......we may be seeing some of them now, but not sure.....However, in light of the troubles we see, Jesus is our peace!

There will be persecutions in some and was for the disciples and during those horrific encounters, Jesus is our peace!

John MacArthur wrote this about Jesus overcoming the world: “Jesus has rendered the world’s opposition null and void.”

The world has no power over us.......1 John 5:4–5 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

It is what we believe that brings us into this victory!

In Jesus we have peace.....I will add this if you are seeking out peace in this world, you will only find trouble......Jesus is our peace!

Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;”

In our faith in Jesus Christ, our afflictions in this world are light in comparison to the glory that will be revealed in the believer......Our affliction is also momentary in light of the glory that is revealed in us through Jesus Christ.

Because He has overcome the world!
