Intro

What does it mean that God is Holy?

I want us to look at what is the thing that make our God most holy. and what can we learn from his holiness.

Revelation 4:8 (RVA 2015)

Y cada uno de los cuatro seres vivientes tiene seis alas, y alrededor y por dentro están llenos de ojos. Ni de día ni de noche cesan de decir:

“¡Santo, Santo, Santo

es el Señor Dios Todopoderoso,

que era y que es y que ha de venir!”.

I believe we will join them in heaven as well saying holy so this is very important. so it will be good to know what that means.

Answers

He is perfectly good, we can’t be in his presence. But other gods claim this. The Quran says: “He is Allah—there is no god except Him: the King, the Most Holy, the All-Perfect, the Source of Serenity” Surah 59:23 also see how they behave towards Allah

Creator of heaven and earth. the Enuma Elish claims this and establishes Marduk as supreme over all other Gods. note: it is older than the Bible.

same goes for Vishnu and the thousands of all other gods around the world.

so if we go by our interpretation or even the interpretation of people in the bible, we will come short of what does it really mean that God is holy.

God’s Answer

The best place to go is to see what God says and what does he mean when he says He is holy.

En estos pasajes vemos como Dios se considera Santo. No porque El es fuego consumidor ni el mas poderoso, si no por su gracia y misericordia.

New Testament

In the new testament no encontramos con este personaje, the Holy Spirit (Parakletos). y el Espiritu Santo es la persona mas dulce y amorosa que podemos conocer. El Senor Jesus lo llama el Consolador y no habla de su ministerio en Juan.

John 16:8–11 RVA 2015

“Cuando él venga, convencerá al mundo de pecado, de justicia y de juicio. En cuanto a pecado, porque no creen en mí; en cuanto a justicia, porque me voy al Padre y no me verán más; y en cuanto a juicio, porque el príncipe de este mundo ha sido juzgado.

but some might say “Raul Peter says be holy as your father in heaven is holy.” and I say you’re right. and the best way to be holy is to imitate his love. Romans 13:8-10.

But most importantly is that we don’t make the mistake that Moses did and think that God’s severeness and his wrath is what makes him holy. What makes God holy and different from all these other gods is his love, grace and mercy. 1 Peter 3:15 says:

but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.

In all the religions of the world they teach you all you have to do and where you have to go to get to God. What makes Jesus holy is that He does the work for us and He leaves his home and comes and finds us.

Application

So why is having the right concept of God’s holiness important? Because it will makes us more like him. When you have a wrong idea of God’s holiness you don’t act like him. you do things like praying for some and not for others.

“Let us, then, be imitators of the Lord in meekness, and let us compete to see who shall more especially be injured and oppressed and cheated.”

“The beginning is faith, and the end is love. Now these two, being inseperably connected together, are of God, while all other things which are needed for a holy life follow after them.” Ignatius, A.D. 110
