10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
A Man of Honor Makes Himself Ready
A Man of Honor Makes Himself Ready
"Make himself ready" means to prepare oneself, or get oneself into a state of readiness. This could involve physical preparation, mental preparation, or both, depending on the context. For example, someone might "make himself ready" for a race by training, or for a speech by practicing. Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Physical preparation:This could include getting dressed, packing a bag, or warming up for an activity.
Mental preparation:This could involve focusing one's mind, reviewing information, or practicing a skill.
General readiness:This could simply mean being in a state where one is able to act or respond without delay.
The phrase "make himself ready" is often used in contexts where there is an expectation of action or an event that requires preparedness.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Take Up - from two roots words meaning:
To think or reason + to turn to = to take up (pursue)
In order to ready yourself, you must choose to do so. You must decide you are going to be a follower of Jesus, and man of God, a Man of Honor.
Where do we make decisions?
In our mind!
We even call making a decision - making up your mind.
Staring at the McDonald’s menu and your Dad or Mom says, “Make up your mind!”
They also say make up your bed. That’s different. It involves what you do with your hands.
Has anyone ever heard the Song: I have decided to follow Jesus.
We hear to things about decisions:
Make up Your Mind
Follow Your Heart
Talk about the difference.
A Conscious Decision vs. A Feeling
The world says follow your heart (what you feel) but sometimes that not a good thing to do.

Today we are going to talk about the pieces of armor that cover our decisions: The Helmet and the Breastplate.

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Breastplate of Righteousness.
Key Aspects of Righteousness in the Bible:
God's Righteousness: God is inherently righteous, meaning He is morally perfect and always acts in accordance with what is right. This righteousness is the standard for all things.
Righteousness as a Gift: The Bible teaches that humanity is inherently sinful and cannot achieve righteousness on their own. However, through faith in Jesus Christ, God imputes His righteousness to believers, making them righteous in His sight.
Righteousness in Action: While righteousness is initially a gift of grace, it also manifests in a life that is transformed by God's Spirit. This includes living justly, honestly, and faithfully according to God's instructions.
Righteousness involves a conscious decision: We make up our mind to do what is right rather than what we feel.
23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
In the Bible, "guarding your heart" means being intentional about what influences your thoughts, emotions, and actions, as these originate from your heart. It's about protecting your inner self from negative influences and cultivating positive ones. This involves being mindful of what you consume (information, media, relationships) and how you respond to life's challenges.

We make the decision to do what is right.
