1. Discipleship Was a Daily Pursuit
1. Discipleship Was a Daily Pursuit
Acts 2:42a – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…”
Explanation:
“Devoted” means it was not casual or convenient. It was consistent and consuming — they pursued the Word together, not just once a week but as a way of life.
Integrated Support:
Matthew 28:19–20 – Jesus doesn’t say, “Go make converts.” He says, “make disciples… teaching them to observe everything I have commanded.” That starts with devotion to His Word.
Hebrews 5:12 – “By this time you ought to be teachers…” — a rebuke to those who remain spiritual infants by choice. Discipleship is expected maturity.
James 1:22 – “But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” They weren’t just learning; they were applying.
Application:
Discipleship is not a church program it’s your personal obedience.
Are you growing in your faith, or are you just coasting along?
2. Fellowship Was a Shared Life Not a Social Gathering
2. Fellowship Was a Shared Life Not a Social Gathering
Acts 2:42b, 44–46 – “…to the fellowship… all the believers were together and held all things in common… they ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts…”
Explanation:
Fellowship wasn’t surface-level socializing — it was shared meals, shared lives, and shared burdens.
Integrated Support:
Romans 12:10 – “Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another.”
Galatians 6:2 – “Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
1 John 3:16–18 – “If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion... how does God’s love reside in him? Let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.”
Application:
Are you in real biblical fellowship or just attending services?
Who knows you well enough to carry your burdens? Who are you carrying for?
2 Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Gal. 6:2
3. Evangelism Was a Lifestyle Not a Scheduled Event
3. Evangelism Was a Lifestyle Not a Scheduled Event
Acts 2:47 – “…praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.”
Explanation:
Evangelism wasn’t a campaign. People were being saved because the believers were publicly living the gospel and speaking about Jesus in their daily lives.
Integrated Support:
2 Corinthians 5:20 – “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us.” Every believer is a representative.
Romans 10:14 – “How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him?” God uses your mouth to bring others to salvation.
Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
Application:
If evangelism is just an event to you, you're missing daily opportunities.
Who is hearing the gospel because of you this week?
Closing Challenge: Reject Consumer Christianity
Closing Challenge: Reject Consumer Christianity
Ephesians 4:11–16 – Christ gave leaders to equip the saints for the work of ministry, not do it all themselves. The whole body grows when each part does its work.
Call to Action:
Stop spectating and start participating.
The Church doesn’t need more attenders it needs active disciples.
Don’t wait on someone to obey Jesus for you.
Reflection :
Reflection :
Where in my life have I become a church consumer instead of a committed disciple?
Who am I intentionally discipling right now?
What does my weekly life say about the gospel to those around me?
Who knows Jesus because of me?
What steps will I take this week to live out biblical fellowship?
