the disciples were wondering about the new temple

the kingship of Jesus on this world

the Kingdom of God that will restore Israel to it’s rightful glory

Daniels stone which will come rolling down the mountain and crush all of the worldly kingdoms

the end of this age

the beginning of the Millennial kingdom

so they ask the questions

V 7

these men assume that they are asking the same question 2 or 3 different ways

in

Matthew 24:3 LSB

Now as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”

V 8

they assume that the destruction of the temple is the end of the age

this question sign of your coming

to us this means return to earth

but to them Jesus was there to stay

this question was when are rou coming out?

when are you going to reveal yourself to the world as the king

when are you going to crush the armies of Rome

The Answer

V 9

Many false Christs

so right off Jesus confuses them

How can there be false Christs appear when you are here as the real Christ?

How can they be deceived?

The know who Jesus is and He will always be with us

in 132 ad there was another rebellion in Jerusalem involving a false christ named Simon

this rebellion killed as many or more as as in ad 70

there will be wars and rebellions

V 10

the Romans were conquering here and there

the armies of Rome surrounded the city of Jerusalem

V 11

diseases earthquakes famines

all of which happened before ad 70

great signs from heaven

comet that looked like a sword that was seen during the siege of Jerusalem

eclipses

all of these celestial sightings were seen as a sign from God

12-16

prison for the disciples

beatings betrayings

death

what are the men biginning to learn here

this aint going to be easy

this aint going to soon

their belief that the kingdom is being established soon is being sweated right out of them

All of these things persecution

imprisonment betrayals

we see in the Acts

V 17-19

be hated because you are of the light and the world hates the light because they love the darkness unless their sin be exposed

be hated because you are a follower of Jesus

BUT

not a hair will perish

John 3:16 LSB

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

To perish is to go to hell

our bodies will die but out souls will get a new glorified body that will last forever

Jesus is telling these men some not good times are coming but dont be discouraged because God wil not let you be lost

not even a hair will go to hell

your soul is 100% protected

you will be secure through your perseverance

without having a 2 message series on the perseverance of the saints

I will tell you that your perseverance

your holding on to the faith

is done by God

V 20

Jerusalem Surrounded

the Christians at this time, Ad 70 had this prophecy

so they did exactly what the warning said to do

V 21-23

get out now don’t come back

and they did just that

but the Jews did not they stayed and made the Romans very angry so there was a great slaughter

and the temple destroyed like Jesus said it would

V 24

The Jews will be scattered throughout the world

and many are still scattered today

but many are returning because of the persecution

so far in this section it looks like everything Jesus said points to Ad 70

Lets look at a verse in Matt

Matthew 24:6–8 LSB

“And you are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pains.

these are birth pangs

they start out light and progressively get worse and worse

more painful and longer

the preterist will say that ad 70 was the great tribulation

but ad 136 was just as bad or worse

WWII was infinitely worse with 6 million Jews killed and tortured

these birth pangs of war got worse in this world

WWI the big war to end all wars

the rapture must take place soon

WWII saw many more killed

Vietnam Korea gulf war

The wars in Israel

these are all birth pangs

the many plagues and killer flu’s

covid 19 and whatever the next is are all birth pangs

Killer earthquakes and volcanoes over the years and other natural disasters

right now in Washington state there are many volcanoes in the mountains and ocean that are showing signs of erupting

California

Off the west coast of Florida

under the Mississippi river there is a fault line that is cracking

Yellowstone caldera is showing unusual signs

caldera in Italy endagering the lives of hundreds of thousands of people

Birth pains but the end is not yet

for centuries the Christian has been saying it can’t get any worse than this

but it does and will continue till the rapture

then literally all hell will break loose on this planet

as much as the Preterist wants everything to have happened at ad70 history tells us that these birth pangs continued to get worse and in the future will continue to get worse
