A song leader told the congregation to turn in their hymnal and sing, “Till The Whole World Knows.” A little girl looks at her mom and says, “I think we are going to be here a long time.”
Music can be a multitude of things...
Some describe music as an art form that arranges sounds into a desired effect often convey emotion or ideas.
The dictionary defines music as: “vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.”
Have you noticed how people often play music based on the emotion or mood.
People often use music to change their mood or to help them experience the mood in a deeper way.
Much of our music is used to express joy and celebrate...no wonder the Psalms exhort us to sing and play music before the Lord.
Let’s Read from two Psalms:
1 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.
Sing To Him!
Sing To Him!
The psalmist reminds us of the object of honor or affinity.
“The Lord”
We recognize His worth, we speak words of gratitude, we speak word of praise.
In this world we are simply in a kind of singing rehearsal. We are all just being prepared for the mighty festival of music and song that takes place in heaven.
Singing to the Lord, 60

Sing About Him!
Sing About Him!
Notice it is to “sing a new song...” which is a recognition of the new thing He has done.
Notice what the Psalmist says in vs. 2 of Psalm 96...
He says, “tell of his salvation from day to day....”
In essence, it is a recognition not of his intrinsic worth along, but how His worth is displayed in His work.
Declare His glory...and works...
Why? because he is great...should be lifted up and revered.
When your heart is full of Christ, you want to sing.
Charles Spurgeon
Sing His Word!
Sing His Word!
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
