1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;

Brief Comments/Thoughts:
“First of all…” PRIORITY OF PRAYER / TIME WITH THE LORD
Don’t put too much thought into the types of prayer mentioned here…
the more you pray, the more times you spend with God, the more you pray with your Bible open the more you will discover there’s more to prayer than just your requests
Thanksgiving - NOTEWORTHY We enter His courts with Thanksgiving
Pray for ALL PEOPLE
then he lists Kings & those in authority
A Life that pleases God and is a blessing to others
God desires all people to know HIM through Christ!
(v8) In every place…MEN SHOULD PRAY, lifting up holy hands without anger/quarreling!

WORSHIP IS NOT JUST SINGING…
WORSHIP IS NOT JUST PRAYING…
WORSHIP INVOLVES GIVING & RECEIVING
Let’s talk about Giving
Members and regular attenders, we have a responsibility as a people who have been given much…to in turn give much.
We recognize that all of the money we possess ultimately belongs to God and not just a percentage.
We also see Jesus as far more valuable than money or what money can buy.
So we live to demonstrate this by being faithful in our giving by giving regularly, generous in our giving to the local church as the Bible reveals, and sacrificially at times as we have opportunity to do great things.
C. WHY?
Because we have been given so much through the person and work of Jesus!
Though our world would try and lead us to consume more and more, as followers of Jesus we joyfully live openhanded for the glory of God and the good of His people.
4. HOW TO GIVE
There are several ways to give.
We do not pass a plate here at Mission,
we desire to see you give not out of compulsion but out of love for Jesus.
So you can give through the Church App,
you can give online at MissionBibleChurch.org,
or as you are leaving today place your physical gifts in the box located at the back of the pews.
We worship by giving…and we worship by receiving…we’re about to receive communion together now.
- PRAYER
- PRAYER
We know that this amazing grace is found only in your Son Jesus.
He was punished so we could be forgiven;
treated as a blasphemer and traitor so we could be blessed as worshipers;
executed as a criminal so we could receive a son’s inheritance;
and crushed with pain so we could taste joy and pleasure forever.
SUCH GRACE!
This is the gospel.
This is our hope and joy and very life.
In Jesus’s name. Amen.
- OPENING
- OPENING
Today, during our time of communion, we are doing as Jesus directed us to do...
we remember His work FOR US
and His work IN US.
Jesus came to display a righteousness that we could never earn.
His righteousness is given to us and made OURS — through faith in His work for us.
This is how we are saved... rescued!
These ELEMENTS are the gifts of God — for the people of God.
Through this table, we proclaim the Gospel:
Christ HAS died
Christ IS risen
Christ WILL come again
As We take the Lord’s supper, remember:
You were an enemy of God, but now you’ve been adopted into his family
You stood condemned in your sin, but now you are counted righteous
You were a slave to sin, but now you’ve been set free to serve God
You were dead in your sin, but now you’ve been made alive
You were headed for hell, but now you are citizen of God’s heavenly kingdom
And all this is because of Jesus!
As we come to the Lord’s Supper we need to remember:
this is NOT ABOUT YOU!
This is NOT a private, extra-special worship moment with Jesus…
IT IS A SPECIAL MOMENT WITH THE FAMILY THAT HE BROUGHT YOU INTO.
Thank God for His grace in the lives around you as much as in yours.
We are celebrating the fact that he’s made us all one family!
Our Communion is with JESUS AND OUR CHURCH FAMILY!
As an act of reverence, we want to heed Paul’s instruction to come with clean hands and hearts to the table.
If you are not in a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ this morning, let the church - not just those in the pews - BUT those that have been washed and cleansed by the blood of Jesus - let us demonstrate the Gospel to you this morning as we gather at the Lord’s Table.
- THE BREAD
- THE BREAD
23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,
24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
As you taste the bread this morning, remember that as real as that bread is in your mouth, so real is the fact that the Son of God became a man and gave up His body for you so that you might have eternal life.
Father, thank you for sending Jesus Christ - the bread of life.
Lord, thank you for our hunger for righteousness - that’s a gift from you that we sense even now.
We bless you for the fact that Jesus Christ was robed in flesh - though truly God, also truly man - and suffered in His body for our sins.
Take…eat...
- THE CUP
- THE CUP
25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
As you taste the fruit of the vine this morning, remember the sweetness of having your sins forgiven because Jesus poured out His blood for you.
Father, thank you for sending Jesus Christ - the lamb of God - to shed His precious blood as payment in full for our sin debt.
Lord, thank you for our thirst for righteousness - a gift from you that drives us to Jesus. He hung on Calvary’s cross, bled, and died - dying a death and bearing the wrath that we deserved…He the precious spotless lamb of God.
Thank you for the blood of Christ which this cup points us to this morning.
Take…drink...
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
