II Chron. 7:14
II Chron. 7:14
I love this country and strongly believe in its ideals and freedom we enjoy. It is hear where most of us heard the gospel and we were saved. It is here where we raised our families and got our education. It is here where we have enjoyed the blessing of life even though there are hard times that come with life. God has been good.
Today, though a revival is needed greatly in our country. This verse gives us a call to revival and a reason why there is no revival.
Revival is not what mans works up but it is sent from God. Revival is the humility of man before God as he gets thoroughly right with God. This means there is nothing between us and another person or God. 1 Peter 4:17 “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” It is most interesting how this familiar passage is often quoted but few live by it. Let’s look at this passage this afternoon and see how we can impact our country and community spiritually.
I. The perequisite
A. The company
1. My people-believers, God’s people.
2. Many wrongly confuse revival by saying when many people get saved, then we will have revival. You cannot revive someone who is dead-revival is for those who are saved.
3. God wants His people to meet His conditions-nothing will happen until we do.
B. The conditions
1. Humble ourselves-this means to turn from our self sufficiency, our self dependence acting independent of God-admitting we cannot do anything without Him.
2. Pray and seek-prayer is asking and calling out unto God-seeking HIm only-some pray to themselves or to their gods but here God says seek “my face”-this means it takes time and energy to seek God.
3. Turn from their wicked ways-this is the most overlooked-turn from our sin and our wicked ways-the things we are doing which are dishonoring to God. The more we seek Him, the less time we have to sin.
II. The promise
A. Hear
1. The reason God is not hearing is because we have not met His conditions-turning form our sin is one third of the conditions
Psalm 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear me:”
2. God can hear but He will not bless those who will not meet His conditions.
3. Is God answering your prayers? Is there something in your life that is holding back revival?
B. Forgive
1. The word means to pardon, to relieve from wrong.
2. The word justification is best described as just as if I never sinned.
3. God is ready and will to forgive. This is God’s call for man to seek His forgiveness.
C. Heal
1. Cure or mend as a physician.
2. God will mend our land, heal our nation and country.
Conclusion: This call is for us to seek God and meet His requirements. Will you come to Him today?
