Title: In My New Wine Era

CLOCKS & ERAS

“time is money”
“time is of the essence”
“timing is everything”
“opportunities of a lifetime must be engaged within the lifetime of the opportunity.”
God is outside Time & Space.
knows beginning from end.
in our tomorrow already
He is ahead, behind and beside us
Chronos - Time. A period of time during which something takes place
Kairos - Time, season. An opportune period of time. This term carries the idea of occasion, period of time, era, or opportunity.
“My hour has not yet come” - is a phrasing used throughout this book and other gospel accounts.
It wasn’t time for two things:
Holy Spirit (New Wine) be poured out.
Messianic Wedding Supper of the Lamb.
MARRIAGE FEAST A week-long event in the ancient world that involved meals, dancing, and religious rituals (e.g., John 2:1–11). Revelation describes history as culminating in the messianic banquet, or “marriage feast of the Lamb” (Rev 19:7–9).
MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB An image that portrays the believer’s intimate relationship and eternal fellowship with Christ, which commences at the conclusion of history.
Jesus wasn’t ready for the messianic feast and wedding supper of the Lamb..Sign of the ABUNDANCE in the Messianic age…which is at hand, begining now. (Jn 1:16- grace upon grace…abundant life)

SERVANTS & SKEPTICS

John 2:5-10

how skeptical would the servants be?
How skeptical are you when you read these signs and wonders of Jesus?
The miraculous and supernatural elements seem hard to grasp.
The servants followed the instructions…they didn’t know why or how, they just went along.
Obedience to Jesus’ instructions will bring about revelation of Jesus in your life.

SIGNS & GLORY

John 2:11

John 2:24–25

Signs point the way to something, they aren’t the substance of the thing.
A sign is a substance, but it points to something more substantial or important.
…stop sign
...directional signs
…billboards
Signs were physical and literal..but had deeper purpose.
A sign always points to some deeper truth beyond itself. The comment that through this sign Jesus revealed his glory suggests that the followers of Jesus saw more in the signs than the general onlookers, and Christians have not been slow to see the contrast between the insipid water of the old life and the richness of new life in Christ. It needed faith to discern the glory.
Pots for purification = turned to wine.
purity in our life, becomes power of the Spirit.
some only come out by prayer and fasting; cleansing
dont mix the holy with profane
he takes the dirty water of life and transforms us by His Spirit.
Ez. 36:24-30 —  “ ‘For I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25 I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will place my Spirit within you and cause you to follow my statutes and carefully observe my ordinances. 28 You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. 29 I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will summon the grain and make it plentiful, and I will not bring famine on you. 30 I will also make the fruit of the trees and the produce of the field plentiful, so that you will no longer experience reproach among the nations on account of famine.
“glory of God is man, fully alive.”
man cannot be fully alive with believe, entrusting their way of living, to Jesus.
grit & glory
referring to the enduring God-honoring radiance bestowed on us through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 21:9–11 (CSB) 9 Then one of the seven angels, who had held the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues, came and spoke with me: “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 He then carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 arrayed with God’s glory. Her radiance was like a precious jewel, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
Glory…what you are famous for

A life entrusted to Jesus as King becomes a sign pointing others toward the radiance of His glory.

1 Thessalonians 1:5–8 “5 because our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with full assurance. You know how we lived among you for your benefit, 6 and you yourselves became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit. 7 As a result, you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 For the word of the Lord rang out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place that your faith in God has gone out. Therefore, we don’t need to say anything,”
1 Thessalonians 1:8 MSG
8 The word has gotten around. Your lives are echoing the Master’s Word, not only in the provinces but all over the place. The news of your faith in God is out. We don’t even have to say anything anymore—you’re the message!
Don’t give mixed signals in your life.
Communion…
**communion itself becomes a sign of substance. it’s transcendent but not transubstantiation.
